The value of the trades can be debated all we want, but I love the idea of going all in. The Forsberg and Miller additions would be massive. I also love adding Carter if Pittsburgh falls out.

Excellent concept here

It's just weird when they have donskoi on the 4th line and a d core of meh-diocrity... definitely more balance in that regard (also at G) is very needed here

Crazy overpay for Sanford I mean he has 7 assists in his last 71 games it's not even like the Goodrow deal where he had 1.5 years of cheap term left

Just an FYI, you have seven retained salaries, and adding in Lucic, that's eight. Unless it's been changed, a team can only have three in any season.

I’m ok doing upgrades to the roster to push guys down but I’m not really cool with giving up significant assets to just upgrade the fourth line that sees very little action.

There are no added retained salary transactions, there are all on the trade partner.

Many Oilers fans have PTSD from the decade of darkness and think ANY player not on the Oilers is far better than the players they have already. So you'll see them giving up high picks for other team's mediocre players and trading their own for nothing or less. Yamamoto for Donskoi is another example of this.

And in 3 years he'll be pining for a great young defensive forward named Yamamoto again... just like all the clowns who hated Hall and Eberle and now long for those players back. I even see Oilers fans trading for guys like Drake Caggiula ffs.

Gotcha, missed that. I was wondering how you worked the cap, but I wasn't interested enough to go looking into how, now I know, lol.

Clowns.... Thanks

I didn't aim that at you as I have no idea what you think of Hall or Eberle or whether you were one of those who ran them out of town. That was a generic comment about a segment of Oilers fans that I find frustrating.

To be clear: These players are targets that would help this team win the Cup. It would cost lots of draft picks, yup. But without giving up prospects, who will be cheap value contracts soon, picks are the capital cost.

Regardless, consider 2 or 3 of these deals to be realistic, but all would bring value. I didn't post this for anyone but myself, but thanks for the feedback for those that offered it respectfully.

What is clear is that this teams needs more contributions from more than just 4 players. The current 4th line only plays 5 minutes, 10 minutes would be better to reduce wear and tear on 97 & 29, this line up accomplishes that.

****reminder, none of this is real

Cheers.

Even if you take out Pysyk and Miller the Sabres would say no.
Safin, a 22 yo RW who has not played a single NHL game.
Turris, $6,000,000 over 3 years for 2 pts in 15 games
Benson, a 23 yo LW with one NHL pt
Rodrigue, Buffalo is well stocked with 3 future NHL GK who are miles ahead of Olivier
2024 3rd round pick (EDM)
2023 5th round pick (EDM)
Take out Pysyk, Miller, Benson, Rodrigue, and Safin while adding a 2022 first to make the deal close.

You think it would cost a first to move out the $2M AAV of Kyle Turris? No way. He could just get waived and buried for a portion of it relieved. That's insanity.

Why did you even bother to post?
My bad, I looked at the wrong source for Turris' salary.
NHL IMDB has his salary listed at $6,000,000. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=99822
So I retract my suggestion of adding a first you are correct.
On the other hand, remove Pysyk and Miller and the Sabres would still say no for the reasons I stated in my original comment.
On the other hand @Grievous you ask "Why did you even bother to post?" Let me ask you, do you think four players who have a total of 2 NHL pts this year is a fair price to pay for a RHD who is among the top 20 RHD pt defenseman in the NHL?
Mark Pysyk has twice the points of Turris and Benson and you want both of them for that.
So please answer your own question "Why did you even bother to post?"
