i like him as a free agent in the offseason for the avs but i dont see how the cap works this season

Depending on who else is on the roster and how much cap hits are discounted, they might not need retention.

Hope CF adds a Date feature to help calculate true cap hits during the season.

NHL season is about 185 days. TDL is 3/28. Last game is 4/29 (leap year!) That leaves 32 days left.

Pavelski's remaining cap hit if traded at TDL: (7M/185)*32 = $1.3M

Im pretty sure they cant accrue any space until everyone is off of LTIR
