Rebuild Already

Description
I hope they go full tilt rebuild. I would fire Sweeney and bring back Jeff Gorton or someone that fits his resume. Would be cool to get Judd Brackett as well. Local boys shaping up the organization.
Some of these trades might not get done.
A first for Clifton seems a bit rich but a low cap hit for a capped out team like Vegas might be worth it to them.
RS on Hall for 3 years is tough but it will take 3 years to get on the upswing of their rebuild.

This is next level (over) reactionary crap.

Also what the hell has gorton ever done to warrant a return?

Signed Chara. Drafted a few guys that helped to win a Cup. Helped craft the NYR into a contender. He’s got experience and can scout top talent. Either way we need changes soon.

Ohhhh come on. It’s the worst kept secret in hockey that Chiarelli was making the big decisions in that period. Chara flat out said it. But even if he hadn’t, if you think a GM that was in charge for a couple months:
Signed Chara
Signed Savard
Traded for Rask
Drafted Kessel
Drafted Lucic
Drafted Marchand

And then took a decade to get offered another job, you’re crazy.

I thought PC came along in the summer of 2006. Nevertheless I would still have a look at him. Gorton mentored behind Glen Sather for like 6 years and then took over. I am pretty sure they were wrong to fire him especially given how funny the NHL was at the time.

Chiarelli was hired, but couldn’t “officially,” take over until after a certain date because he was with another NHL organization (conflict of interest). It was pretty obvious Gorton was taking marching orders from Chiarelli.

I don’t know. I don’t work in hockey. I don’t know who the next guy is, but I’m aware of who has tried and failed.

COL wouldn’t give that up on 2 different occasions for Hall with 2 other teams why would they do it now?

That pasta trade, swap those players out for at least broberg and / or Holloway.

Also pastrnak playing with draisatl or mcdavid would be absolutely ridiculous.
