Well there are 18 UFA goalies next summer. Yeah, some may not be NHL good but many want to continue their NHL careers. Probably some RFAs that teams may have to trade for cap reasons.
We'll see how the Sabres are this season. Maybe, just maybe, it isn't so glum a future we expected in October.

I find it difficult to understand how a two time Stanley Cup GK could regress as much as Murray has.
Buffalo may need his salary to reach the floor, as only Olofsson and Ruotsalainen are RFA's next year.
Boychuk @ $6,000,000, Miller @ $3,875,000, Butcher @ $2,822,764, Hägg @ $1,600,000 are most likely traded or not offered contracts (Hägg is playing well enough but with Samuelsson lighting it up in Rochester IDK) $14,297,764 of cap space that needs to filled.
They are currently $6,697,725 above the floor, with $14,750,000 in Injury reserve.
With the way the team performs when Dell is between the pipes, I think it would be a good move to pick him off of waivers.
Maybe Ottawa could retain part of his salary and send him to Buffalo for future consideration, but I would take him off of waiver if that did not take place.
