Carolina wouldn't move Jarvis for EICHEL. Why would they move him for Miller? Jarvis is playing top-line minutes and has a better point pace than Miller. This makes 0 sense.

Myers at $6mil for 2years after this is likely to cost more than a 2nd to get rid of
Idk that he’d waive to come back to Buffalo anyways?

In principle the Avs should accept but will need to send some cap back (example JT Compher) or up the pick to a 1st and retain some.

    Although to play devil’s advocate….
Jokiharju is the only RH defenseman that we have signed for next year, so we are gonna need a couple guys
And even though Myers is overpaid, that doesn’t particularly matter to us with all the Cap room we are gonna have.
Heck, his $6mil cap hit could even help get us to the Cap floor.

    So i wouldn’t say it’s a horrible idea
But the trade has gotta make sense for us,
    AND
Myers has to be willing to come back here.

It’s pretty clear we are specifically going after guys who do wanna be here. And while it’s possible Myers looks back on his time here fondly, he could also have a sour taste in his mouth from it not working out the first time.

Avs don’t touch that with a ten fool pole. Newhook is off limits. Horvat has no term left, and he’s struggling while being a guy who is being alphad in his own locker room.

Horvat isn’t even an upgrade over kadri

I think part of the problem with the sabres over the last decade is the poor business decisions. One of the few things they have going their way is cap space, and they have plenty. They should be weaponizing cap space, taking short term cap dumps and getting the best picks possible for them. We are really doing vancouver a solid here, hes not a 6m player, and almost nobody is taking cap dumps. If you can charge for something, dont give it away. Also, im not even sure if the pegulas would take on extra cap right now. The johnny boychuk trade is actually pretty shrewd, his cap hit is 6, but it only costs the sabres 1.25m in actual money. The sabres after a decade of mismanagement are finally playing in front of 5000 people in their own barn, even if the sabres tickets are relatively cheap, thats a big hit, im guessing that every penny the sabres spend over the floor right now is coming from the pegulas directly. I do hope they sign off on weaponizing cap, but it better be first round picks.

Yeah, i agree with pretty much all of that
Only thing is that it’s gonna be hard to get 1st round picks in these next 2 drafts- especially a team like Vancouver’s Bc it’ll likely be a lottery pick
Maybe if we took Myers off their hands, and threw them FLA’s 1st (which would obviously be lower in the round), then we could get their 1st (probably top5 protected) and a 2nd from them
    Or something like that
Tough to say, as I’m sure it could get complicated

IDK, RHD are coveted and hes a huge minutes eater. Hes def overpaid but next year hes owed only 5mil and its all base which is appealing if the are looking to get to capfloor and save money. So to me all that offsets it from being a 1st down to a 2nd.

He also has a partial NTC that kicks in after this season
And just Bc he plays a lot of minutes, doesn’t mean he’s playing well

Finally, IF they do wanna get rid of him, there’s not many teams that can even consider taking his Cap

I’ve got no idea what the deal will actually be (IF they make one), but it might be harder to get rid of Myers than u think
