Explications
Flames should (imo) be targeting a top 6 and bottom 6 forward (and maybe a LD for the 3rd pair).
Avoided RFAs with the Flames contract situation next season so mainly looking at UFAs with a year left (except Toffoli and Brown who have multiple years left but could fit the team well).
A couple players I left off because the teams were middle pf the pac, but we can look at them closer to the deadline.

So, what's the price of these guys?

                MTL trade:

The problem is that the price to pay for Toffoli would probably be a player in your Core that you need to make the playoffs.

Maybe a first and a prospect... but at 4M$ Toffoli is a bargain and your first is gonna be high, and I'm not high on any particuliar Flame prospect except Pelletier or Matt Coronato.

both of which I don't think you are willing to part with.

Anaheim: I'd be super surprised if the Ducks don't get a 1st+so/so prospect for Rakell, especially if there's retention. Flames and Ducks are also in the same division, so if Anaheim is still on the bubble, I can't imagine them making a trade with them.
Dallas: Pavelski is still producing. He also has a 3 team trade list, so I'd be really, really surprised if it didn't include every team in Canada.
Detroit: It was a 2nd and a semi-dump for the Wings to get Leddy. He's still playing reasonably well, so with retention, I can't see it being much less than a 2nd. Maybe a 3rd or B prospect instead?
MTL: Toffoli's numbers and contract mirror JT Miller's when he was moved from Tampa to Van. That was for a 1st+3rd. Probably *should* cost around the same.
Ottawa: I've gotta imagine that the Sens value Brown extremely highly. No idea on the cost, but he's a solid producer offensively, while starting a hilariously low 38.2% of his even strength shifts in the offensive zone. With Tierney, I'd imagine a 3rd or 4th would do it.
Arizona: Kessel is still a pretty dynamic player. If they're going to retain 50%, I'd imagine they'd ask for a 1st, and possibly settle for a 2nd+decent prospect. Hard to know though.

It all sort of depends on how the next couple of months shake out, and how many actual sellers are out there.

If I'm Ottawa I'm asking for a 1st + for Connor Brown at 50% retained. Easily worth as much as Blake Coleman went for to Tampa. Sens offer him up, they'll get calls from just about every playoff team in the league.

Tierney I'd expect closer to a 3rd, though I wonder if they'll even be able to trade him. Even assuming Stützle sticks down the middle, they'd be running a really thin C group.

I think Montreal would look at a 2023 1st + maybe Emille-Petterson or similar prospect or value pick

Pavs retained should get a first and a third. Or maybe two seconds, one with a condition to become a first (kinda like what we paid for Zucc)

Seems fairly fair, but can only be traded to 3 teams though...I can't imagine there's a Canadian team on that list.

His list could absolutely hurt his value. If there’s somewhere he wants to go he’s earned it. Is what it is. I think Rads would be a better fit for Calgary anyways

I feel like you guys are finally healthy, and that you won't have to worry too much about selling anyway.

Connor Brown -- The equivalent to what Tampa paid for Blake Coleman.

Chris Tierney -- A 3rd round pick and it will cost you an additional 5th round pick if you want Ottawa to retain salary.

Health hasn’t been an issue so far this year. Scoring and coaching have. I don’t know who’s been running things lately but I like the way we’ve been playing

tears of joy A 1st for Leddy? You got him for a 2nd and a cap dump.

That’s not exactly true. We got him for a second rounder and retained half on Panik who costs nearly no cap for being sent down. Not exactly “cap dump” unless you’re talking about actual cash output. In this offer the first rounder is on a retained Leddy so not 1:1 and typically what top 4 defensemen go for at TDL or like the poster said 2nd +.

Pelletier and a 2022 first who’ll likely be from 20th to 25th as I see them as a first round exit. That would get you Toffoli who’s a 25 goal scorer on a steal of a deal… Hes very streaky tho

Yea, because he's on an expiring deal and is a puck moving, top pair guy... Do you follow trade deadlines and values AT ALL?

Yup, I sure do! Here’s some solid trivia: who was the last pending UFA LD that netted a 1st. You’ve gotta go back a while to get there 😊.

Hahahaha... Ok, we're limiting it to handedness... Get outta here...

Also, Muzzin at the 2019 deadline... You don't have to go back far, at all...

…interesting to compare an expiring contract to a guy who still had a full season on his deal, but whatever serves your narrative I suppose.
