strome may have fallen out of favour, but he's still worth way more than a 4th straight up, and more if you saddle a team with eakin on top of that

Probably
But they sure aren’t getting a 1st for him like A LOT of Hawks fans were proposing in the offseason

Strome is not out of favour. He was with previous coaching and management but not anymore.

Yeah. What Aussie said. You aren't getting a young player with an upside like Strome for Eakin and a 4th anyway. Plus he named his dog after Wrigley Field, so he's probably staying.

Holtby is hurt. I’d much rather have Holtby and Oetter and move Dobby

Im not saying for 1 moment that Strome is worth a 1st but we did get a positive return for an ageing Keith with a cap hit not many teams would be prepared to take.

Ok…. I didn’t say anything about Keith though
And i don’t think u can compare the 2 players
Keith has been a solid vet with multiple Cup wins and a history of leadership
Strome is a struggling young-ish player without any of the intangibles that made Keith attractive

I wasn't comparing the 2 figuratively, it was more the fact that no one thought we would get any value for Keith's deal, the same way no one thinks theres value to be had with Strome.

Id like to keep stromer for the time being and give him that opportunity to bring his value up. If he improves there could be a long term 2C spot to play for but if not, theres value to be had in a trade for both parties.

I get what u were saying
But Keith had intangibles that made him attractive
That’s why i ended up “getting something” for him

All Strome really has is his supposed upside

You’ve gotta find a team who’s still a believer in him
And Strome just hasn’t shown much lately to give a team that type of confidence in him

I agree he needs to show more for his value, but currently he is probably a 2nd+3rd to 2nd+4th in value.

The Eakin + future 4th isn't the type of deal that makes the hawks pull the trigger on the move.

I never said it was- I’m not the one who proposed that trade

I think you are WAY overvaluing Strome’s value though
He’s got 3pts in 12games
I just don’t think that’s good enough- or even close to good enough- to get decent value for him

At this point,
i think you’ve gotta accept that u guys would be “selling low” on him unless he starts playing better
Then maybe u could get a couple teams interested enough to up his value

yes indeed selling low, thats another reason we won't be selling now. There is a chance we sell him at TDL if he can get some point production.

His minutes are just starting to increase and since the coaching change has 2 points in 6 games, albeit not great numbers by any stretch but his on ice productivity has been better also which gives some hope.

Time will tell if there is value closer to the TDL.

We agree there
Doesn’t make sense for the Hawks to just dump him now
Might as well wait & see see if u can get him producing a bit more
Then maybe u can get something decent for him
