Description
Why real GMs don't just make the trades we do is baffling, lol.

Anyway, base on prior discussions with some good Vancouver fans, I know some will want more or different prospects for Miller. This is in the neighborhood though, and I think it should get a conversation started at least.

Not sure about the NYR trade. It kinda makes sense but it kinda doesn't. Getting a pick back since Colorado is now down two firsts is the primary objective. Taking Georgiev is just a roll of the dice. Johansson appears to be decent. Probably not the Rangers first choice, but it buys time at the least. I don't even know if I like it tbh.

From the Rangers perspective this basically looks like JT Compher for the 2nd. Pretty even in value, but it's pretty hard for me to picture what our roster would look like with him in 2022-23. I think I'm going to pass because of long term implications, but not a bad offer at all

I would accept but I think the Rangers would pass only because of Compher's cap hit next season. We have roughly $11.5M in cap space (assuming a $1M cap increase) to sign 5 forwards, a backup goalie and account for rookie bonuses.

Georgiev is just a lottery ticket where they hope a change of scenery does him good. Kuemper and Francouz is still the tandem the team runs with. This is just swapping 3rd goalies with cap space and the pick being the main targets.

id rather keep compher if a goalie isn't needed.

I'm sure others would agree with you, but JTM is better than JTC, and I feel good about the lineup.

JTM + LOC + NAK makes losing JTC AOK IMO. LOL.

I like the Team name but not the trades.

NYR trade my issue isn't the value but the goals of the Rangers. They are going to be getting tight in cap and have to focus on other players first then can fill in with guys like compher. Better to just keep the flexibility for today.

Don't think it's enough for a retained Miller. Dude has been borderline ppg and physical and locked in through next two years in his prime. Can play w and c. Valuable.

FWIW, I had several discussions with Vancouver fans and the Barron, ? Prospect, and a first was agreed on as being in the neighborhood. I do agree with your take on Miller though. There is a lot of value. He'd be an amazing fit for Colorado too.

He'd be an amazing fit for every contender essentially. He can play wing or C, is a top line forward and brings a physical element. At 50% retained his cap hit is low. There should be a bidding war if he's available.

I think that's pretty fair value for Miller with retention.

Avs should decline both. Madness to move a RHD prospect like Barron for a rental when he's tailor made to replace EJ in the future. It's also exactly the reason Canucks fans want him. RHD and their dearth of them. Ergo that increases his value in any trade with VAN and they have to ante up more if they want him, due to there being other directions the Avs can go. Georgiev isn't a bad shout but hard to see a way to make it work. Not madly opposed to trading JT but don't see the necessity either.

Appreciate the comment but I have a pretty strong disagreement. EJ is bottom pairing at this point. While I'd love to keep Barron, I do think he's a bit of a luxury. The team also has Helleson, who I think can play bottom pair minutes as early as next season.

It's a lot to give up, but they get Miller for two runs and also maintain enough cap space to re-sign both Kadri and Burakovsky due to retention. This maximizes the Cup chances in the last two MacKinnon discount years. They aren't totally mortgaging the future here but still making a big win now move. I think Miller is kinda the perfect perfect target tbh.

Byram's injury troubles make it hard to see trading Barron at the moment. Things will be clearer at TDL

General consensus is that we need EJ's money to re-sign MacK. Miller would also be needing to be re-signed as well (if we chose to) as well as Byram, and even if you say Helleson is a bottom pairing replacement for EJ on D then you could look at Barron as your future 2 RD. I just think if it means giving up Barron then it should be a no. There will surely be better options.
