This season is cursed

Explications
Isles have pushed back their initially-scheduled 1030am practice. They are now scheduled to skate at 1pm.

If the Isles announce more positive cases, that brings them to at least 7, perhaps more.
NHL needs to do the right thing and step in already. How much more can this team be asked to go through?

- Varlamov was not healthy to start the season
- 13 game road trip to start the season (12,571 mi traveled)
- Pulock out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot
- Lee, Pelech, Bailey, Greene, Johnston, Bellows are all positive for Covid. Beauvillier had a false positive and missed opening night at UBS because of it. Perhaps even more cases are coming later today.
- Isles basically fielded an AHL team this past weekend to open their new $1.1B arena
- Nelson and Dobson injuries are still unknown from the weekend

Oh and it's not even Thanksgiving yet. Isles have been ridiculously unlucky. This post is an attempt at a retool. Don't think Lou punts on the season though.

Edmonton isn't in the market for a goaltender. Maybe call back at the deadline?

I've seen a number of EDM trades for Varly around a package like this. Sounds like Mike Smith will be out some time - I think they make good trade partners

Smith is expected to be back mid-December. Koskinen is 9-2 with a 0.910 sv% and Skinner is 2-2 with a 0.939 sv%. They aren't in a rush to spend a 1st while Koskinen-Skinner are holding the fort and Smith will be coming back to crowd the crease in a few weeks. A 1st would be much better spent on LHD.

That was until Skinner came along and is doing what he has been doing.

I don't know if you need to hear this but it is difficult to have success when over a third of your starting roster isn't in the lineup for one reason or another. Couple that with everything else that has happened this first 6 weeks and it's been a cluster****

Week-to-week. He's been out 5 weeks already and is likely out another 2-3, the Oilers are 11-4-0 since he got injured. No idea why you think they'll suddenly panic and overpay for a goalie.
