Lots of people hate on Caufield, you would be surprised.

Jealousy is the first reason if you ask me, the second is the team he plays for.

I wouldn't call it hate, some people just think he's overrated.

Jackets fan, Definitely hate Point. Strictly because of his dominance of the Jackets in big moments. Otherwise, love his game. He is still on my hate list at the end of the day

There may be some discontent for Kaprizov because of the whole signing saga and Caufield for reasons already stated, but otherwise this is a really good list! Some of these players may get a bit of hate for their contracts, a decline in play, or fanbase rivalries, but all of these guys are very likeable.

well it just got a little annoying when for like 2 weeks my YouTube page only had videos from guys like legorocksgaming99 and gravith because because like every day they would post a new video about how CC was gonna take the league by storm and about how the Calder trophy was his to lose when he hadn't even played and NHL game yet

Leafs fans have overrated Nicholas Robertson through the roof, Canucks fans have done the same with Podkolzin, Rangers fans with Kravtsov and the same goes on for all fanbases. Once again, your argument is about whether he is overrated or not, which is all about player evaluation. On the other hand, deliberately rooting for a player's failure is hatred for the player himself.

I guess your right those three guys are crazy overrated as well especially Robertson, but they didn't get no near as much hype that CC got.

Your claim about Dvorak is sketchy. Most informed and intellectually decent Habs fans had tempered expectations from Dvorak. Just because some random twats on Twitter say that doesn't mean it's applicable for the whole fanbase

I don't count hating players soley for how good they are because then we'd be left with a team of checking forwards that don't check.

CC could become a 30g guy but not this year... i mean he had 4g in 22 NHL games. What has he done to show you that he's a 30 goal kind of player? jw. Most people tend to "hate on" guys that are glorified

Lots of Habs fans on this website fall in the "overly optimistic" or "misinformed" category. And you're oversimplifying the Danault situation; they did not let him go, he left & they replaced him with one of the few available centers.

As for Caufield, I don't know? The fact that he scored at an elite rate at every level he's played maybe? He's a good goal scorer and 30 goals is not an unreachable number for the average NHLer. And judging Caufield's goals this season doesn't mean much when the whole team isn't exactly swimming in goals.

"oversimplifying" is one way to look at it... without him they clearly weren't a playoffs team. It would be extremely optimistic to assume with him they would be a playoff team. Even last year they wouldnt have made playoffs in a traditional season. i think they were #10 in the east? imo they should have just kept the picks rather than compete with the current roster.

You're right they should have kept the pick (even if it could very well be 27th or later) but they also targeted Dvorak specifically because of the term. He's gonna have one or two years left on his contract when the Habs are half-decent again, and he fills a hole at 2C in the meantime.

hopefully they can expedite the rebuild by getting Wright in the draft
