Description
I'm going to be honest, all of us Islanders fan are in pain, and yes, I get it. I overreacted at first as well, but I don't think a full re-tool is going to help this team. I think our problem is honestly just a case of bad luck. With the team's small COVID outbreak, I think that when players get better and come back onto the line-up, I think the team will improve, especially with us having home ice advantage. I agree, right now time's are tough for our Islanders, but I think that time will help these guys. Remember, we are older and COVID has hit us hard the past week, but I think that things will improve.

Even with this being said, I do believe that Lou, if our record improves, will make some moves before the trade deadline in order to improve will be made. AGE is a major problem on our team. I believe that Lou was WRONG in going for older veterans, however, I understand the reasoning for going for Parise and Chara. We should have gone for a Brandon Saad or a Zack Hyman in the free agent search, in order to increase scoring. However, this is what we got. We need to work with what we got.

Line-up is with everyone healthy. I do believe that if the team improves, that a major trade deadline trade will occur.

doubtful. even when the covid guys come back, its an old roster. they dont need to have a firesale, but guys who arent core guys should be on the market.

agreed on the fact that we don't need to sell. We have a decent team, we just have a streak of bad luck.

anyone suggesting that they should be trading Barzal, Beau, Wahlstrom, nelson, Pageau, Pelech, Pulock, Dobson, Sorokin is crazy imo. But if anyone else gets a trade call, Mayfield Clutterbuck Varlamov etc, they should absolutely listen and if the value matches up, seriously consider taking it. Theyre not making the playoffs this year, the hole they're in is only gonna get deeper.

varlamov should be gone before the start of next season at the latest imo. if you can get a first for him you take it, even if you have to retain part of his salary. they'll have tons of cap next year. mayfield could also return a first but i wonder if that's best done at the deadline this year or next year. i doubt anyone would give them anything for clutter, just have to take what you have there, but if they can add two first round picks these next two years, that's a big boost to the prospect pool and the future of the team, and they can still be competitive next year even with those moves.

They just need to trim off the dead weight when guys are healthy.

Waive Chara and let him sign somewhere he wants to go to be 7th.

Sent Aho down if he passes through waivers, he just isn’t an NHL player.

Call up Hickey to be the 7th D and go with:

Pelech-Dobson
Salo- Pulock
Greene- Mayfield
Hickey

Next year Bolduc replaces Greene and all of a sudden the D is all under 30.

At forward Bellows needs to play and sit Martin.

Lee-Barzal-Wahlstrom
Beau-Nelson-Palmeri
Parise-Pageau-Bailey
Bellows-Casey-Clutter
Martin
Johnston

In the off-season let Parise walk, Clutter can retire or take a 1 year deal and slot Golyshev in the 3rs line.

As a Rangers fan I cannot say that I am not happy with your team's suffering, but you guys just look off, I'm not sure is that do to the loss of Eberle or what exactly, but the only player I have liked off the islanders is Salo. Sorokin and Varlamov both do not look like the same goalie they were last year, yes you guys are having a horrible time with COVID, but your team does not have any drive in them and that is what I would be the most worried about as a fan. Trading a few players for high/mid 1st rounders could help but just like the Canadiens last year that finish might have inflated your guys' stock a bit too high and now anything but Stanley Cup finalists would be disappointing.
