Description

I think if the Leafs have proved anything this season, it's that they are going to need to find a better partner for Muzzin. Holl was great alongside him in 2019/20 but ever since has been pretty bad. Every time these two are on the ice the team gets hemmed into their own end because they don't have the skill level to keep up with the opposing team on the cycle. It's going to be costly to find an upgrade, but I feel if the Leafs want to make a deep run, they're going to need one.

I bet the leafs could get a guy who would likely have good chemistry with Muzzin. Maybe even bail Muzzin out on some bad pinches. Cheap contract. Big body. Wouldn’t even cost that much.

I agree that there’s overpayment but most of these guys aren’t available so it would take an overpayment to acquire them. Really, Gost might be the only one that is likely to be moved

I don’t think Demelo had ever played in a top 4 role. He’s always been a guy who you’d think could slide up to be a #4 D but has never either taken that role or been given a chance.

and the leafs are one of the last teams that needs to over pay for anyone on this list. They're already a top 4-5 team in the league defensively and none of these guys are going to help that

Niemela needs a good number of games in the AHL before there's any talk of him being on an NHL roster. Liljegren is more preferable for a stab at top four minutes.

No need for attitude. Never said they need to make these moves. Just that in order to acquire any of them it will take an overpayment which is fact.
