No way Calgary does that. Unless it looks to be a high pick

They may, or may not. But SM is playing in a system that is not suited to him, and is a bottom six guy for the moment. If he rebounds, or Calgary views him as part of the future, then no deal from Calgary. It’s all in their plans.

Reasonable for both sides imo. From pens perspective rust will want 5-6x5…. And from avs perspective giving up a very good piece, but worth risk to get a cup

Agreed and likely the Avs let Rust go after a cup run but not too much risk. Bowers could be a decent bottom-middle 6 forward (upside) but has had injury problems, so there's a risk/reward element there for PIT. That said if they lose Rust anyway, through not being able to afford him then Bowers is something for nothing.

That Rust trade is horrible for Pens. He's a really good top-6 winger, Shane Bowers is maybe an NHL player at some point, nothing more.
Bruins wouldn't trade Reilly and a 1st (!) for Dumoulin, Reilly is good.
Riikola wouldn't even fetch a 7th.
The Letang trade seems reasonable.
Tampa wouldn't to that trade, they already got 3 high-end C in Point, Stamkos, and Cirelli. Palát is criminally underrated.

Calgary is top-10 in the league in a lot of stats right now (Goals, SOG, PP%, SOG Allowed, GA, PK%, etc.) so why would they trade out a piece and make their roster worse?

Sorry, I get as a Pittsburgh fan you may like this but it doesn't make sense for Calgary

For Tampa think malkin on wing with Stamkos, two headed monster line like Pittsburgh did at times w Crosby & malkin. Only added palat to make cap work.

For Boston, debrusk would work too. Just a cap holder.
