I disagree. Don’t move too fast there man. We still need to fill the positions of need. We don’t have 6.5M to give him, and trading Kassian doesn’t cover it long term. And how would we be able to sign Puljujarvi, and Yamamoto after taking on that much cap? Even if Smith, and Keith retire, we will be tight against the cap with no starting goalie! Bouchard the year after, and Skinner. I personally don’t think Holland would do it, and long term, it’s not a good idea just because he is making 6.5M. If those players don’t retire, we are even more screwed next season. This is just my opinion.

your right Fogele and Kassian dont quite cover it but pretty close. the only big contract is JP for next year. which you could probably look at a garland type as a max 5X5 area. Yamo hasnt shown much to get more than a a 2mill bridge. After that you have Keith and smith coming off the books. and can trade barrie somewhere as well.

Im not saying that it is easy but if a player comes along that is better than the current roster and adds elements the team sorely needs you do it.

Puljujarvi will definitely get 5M after this season. Keith and Smith are not coming off the books for another year. If they don’t retire, I don’t think we could fit it under the cap. I’m all in for trading Barrie as Bouchard is playing really well, but then we have a hole on our defence, and it won’t be as easy to trade Kassian. Barrie is could, but I don’t know, because not many contenders have the cap. I know Vegas did it, but I don’t see how it could work right now, and in the future. He just makes too much honestly. With no Barrie, and possibly Keith, we would be too heavy anyway… we need to build a good rounded out team. I think we should fill our holes first, then figure out what we can do after if we have left over cap.
