Just go get Varlamov in the summer for a 2nd round pick and dump Smith on the Coyotes.

Vegas will not be making an inter-divisional trade that helps the Oilers when they're all but guaranteed to meet in the playoffs this year.

Strange trade with Detroit for what ultimately amounts to a very expensive 4th line LW. I'd rather pay more for an upgrade at #3C.

Vegas has no cap problem. Why do folks think so?

Pretty underwhelming return for Fabbri. Doesn't really give us anything of interest and the pick isn't good. I think I would rather take a higher pick, no knock on Benson but Detroit has quite a few wingers in the system needing roster spots, he would just be part of the log jam.

Smith is very good in net in spurts. They also promised him he would get to stay close to his family so he could see them which means close to BC.

Smith's also a dinosaur and may be on the cusp of having serious issues staying healthy. He's not worth losing Skinner to waivers and running 3 goaltenders because you can't make a business decision is stupid.

True, But he was on LTIR for the Sabres, and will be on LTIR with the Vegas till March at least. His cap hit to Vegas for Vegas this season won't be 10m, more like 3.5m

While you are correct, for now. They will have serious issues when Eichel can play and then the fun begins.

Really ? He comes back in March. His cap hit for the year isn't 10m for Vegas, more like 3.5m, when he return for the last two months

Yes. But Pacioritty's cap hit to Vegas won't be 7m this season, nor will Stone 9m cap hit as he out for two months, and Eichel is only playing for two months this season.
Why do folks think Vegas has a cap hit of 26m with these three players this season? Should be able about 17m plus about 2m for their replacements.

Yeah, which still puts them over when everyone is healthy. This is just an example of a possible solution for them at that point. Someone on their team will have to get moved once bodies start coming back.

But they weren't over when Patches, Stone and Tuch were in the starting lineup which cost 20.5m in cap. Gee, now the estimate for Patches, Stone and Eichel and their three replacements is 19m, and Tuch has been traded. I don't understand why are so worried about Vegas's cap at all. Eichel isn't a 10m cap hit this season, not close to it.

Vegas is in LTIR. You don't accrue cap space when on LTIR and you have to fit the player's entire cap hit in when he comes back. I reckon the only way they'll make it work is to Kucherov him - don't allow him back until the regular season is over.

Why do you think the Islanders are sellers? 13in a row to start a season on the road and only 1 game against NJ or NYR

It's just a fun little exercise months ahead of the trade deadline. We'll see what happens smile
