Fleury would not cost a 1st with how Chicago are doing. A 3rd+4th would seal the deal. Unless Chicago are greedy then screw them! And no we don’t need a Left D man but someone like Manson at RD could make sense. If we go after a left D man McNabb would make more sense as he is much younger and is cheaper so he could theoretically play 3D

Fleury + retention would cost at least a 2nd or 3rd plus the Hawks are 4-0 since firing Colliton with Fleury playing a lot better

I agree with you that he won't cost a 1st. Lehner is the closest comp. a 2nd round pick, and 4th liner (or backup goalie) and a B prospect. Maybe a bit more...maybe a bit less.

Why would Edmonton be trading for a goalie?

You really should try watching the Oilers. They have 3 good RHD and they absolutely do need a LHD - Koekkoek hasn't been playing well and he got injured last night, and Keith has been underwhelming so far. A solid, defensively strong, 2-way LHD is what the Oilers need, not a 1-way RHD like Manson.

I certainly wouldn't pay a 1st + 2nd + Koskinen for Giordano though, that's just stupidity.

Edmonton has

Skinner .940
Smith .920
Koskinen. 910

Why would they spend a first round pick on

Fleury .901

The only thing I'd say is the season is still young. I don't wish negatively upon anyone so hopefully EDMs goalies stay hot. Flower is NOT the problem in CHI. It appears the fans that have been calling for their coach to get fired may indeed be correct. 4-0 under DK. Flower should get a decent return should he be willing to waive/not retire.

The season is young, so there's no reason to move a decent goalie for a meh goalie.

The Retention and the Playoff know how, I think MAF holds more value than Lehner with retention.

Cup Winning experience and playoff know how, something your management have clearly placed a high importance on over the last year. Mcdavid wants to win.

Also he is .937 in his last 7 outing with 3 of them coming since the change of coach. I expect his overall figures to get back to his career averages in the short term.

He's .913 career. That's nothing special.

.937 isn't special enough? Regardless, in the short term he doesn't need to be special. When playoffs come he does and if you look at his recent record, if his team is going deep or just wanting to get out of the 1st round he is one of the best performing playoff goalie in the last 5 years. If you want to take Kosk or Smith for that matter into the lions den, be my guest but MAF is proven to give you a better chance when it counts.

Id like nothing more than to keep MAF and we get a playoff run. That is a pipe dream due to our start but in the short term we are slowly trying to bring it back.

In his last 7 outings he has 4 wins, they came against Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Arizona and Seattle. That's literally the 3 worst teams in the league plus the Pens, who aren't a playoff team.

I wouldn't be hanging my hat on those opponents giving any sense of definitive value for a playoff contender.

The last 7 games Flowers has a average .937 save % on a average of 33 shots faced per game. Meanwhile, Kos has a .896 save % on 30 shots faced per game on average.

Can we just clarify, you think Kosk is better than the reigning Vezina because MAF had a rough start to the year and his numbers don't reflect his ability?

Look at his opponents - he fared well against the 3 worst teams in the league. Big deal.

So all last year, he just played the 3 worst teams in the year and in the playoffs the last 5 years just played against the worst teams.....?

Your saying he has been good for a small stretch, thats correct but the same can also be said about his bad stretch, it was for a small sample. That is all my point is.

Overall I believe MAF to be a much better goaltender than Kosk and I believe any playoff aspiring team would be better with MAF in their lineup.

Last year was last year, that was a career high that he's never hit before and 99% chance he never will again. You WERE trying to sell him based on the past 7 games, but that's not working out very well for you. Here's why: he played 3 playoff teams in his past 7 games and came away from those 3 games with 3 losses, 1 quality start and a .901 save percentage.

MEH.

Last year Fleury played in the worst division in the league with no interdivisional play. There was literally 1 decent offensive team team in that division other than his own. No wonder his numbers were so good.

None of those conditions exist anymore.

This was never about me, it is for your benefit. The stats above are used show his value to help you realise that the numbers are bad from the first 7 games....

Have you watched much Hawks hockey this year? We were trash, but throwing a Vezina winner and future HOF goalie in the trash because of a poor run isn't going to get very far. That is without talking about the retention requested.

He is a future HOF goalie, you don't get that from 1 years performance. I feel your not giving him enough credit, he's had a rough start on one of the worst teams in the league.

Barrie is brutal in his own end. I'd gladly move on from him. Manson would make so much more sense and we also get a big, strong, mean guy that can do it all

He can't "do it all" though - he's ok in his own end but brutal in the offensive zone. He also isn't a good puck mover, which is just as important as being able to get the puck in the first place. He's a poor-man's Adam Larsson, and the Oilers are better off without Adam Larsson.

Also, Barrie had tightened up his game the past few weeks (this happened last season too, tire fire for the first 10 games or so then he settled in). Among regular defensemen over the past 7 games, Barrie is

1st for GA/60
Median for xGA/60
Median for SCA/60
Median for offensive zone starts

Again, you should watch the team more often.
