They have zero need for Hoffman and his bad contract. He's not good enough for the top 6 and has no defensive abilities that would allow him to be used in the bottom 6.

His stats are on par with Merrill, Whitecloud, Clifton, Jensen. Lots of bottom pairing guys have decent defensive results, it still doesn't make them rock solid top 4 defensemen.

Sure on Montreal, but not on Winnipeg. Especially when you consider his contract, the price you're asking in return and his character issues. He's just not something True North would touch.
