Digging one hole to fill another is a bad strategy for both of these teams.

As much as I hate the "FIRRREEEEE EVERYBODYYYYY!!!!" nonsense from fans (of every team) every time their team loses a few games, I really, really do think it's time for a new vision in Vancouver.

I don't disagree that it's likely fair, but I'd be worried about replacing Carlo's minutes on the back end. That thins it out a ton.

Nope. 1st, Debrusk or 1st, Studnicka, mid level prospect like Olson. Sure. No Carlo. Nucks need to cut cap space anyway not add to it.

ah yes a young top 4 RHD that plays 20 minutes a night won't be hard to replace. RHD is a hot commodity in this league especially ones on a team friendly deal. There is a much bigger skill difference between carlo and clifton then between coyle and miller. im all fine with giving debrusk, 1st and a prospect or more picks but carlo is off limits.

Carlo is basically untouchable he is a massive need for our team. miller not so much for vancouver they have 3 1c capable centers in miller, petey, horvat, yes he obviously is very skilled player and helps the team but again for them to lose miller and have petey go to 1c isn't a massive downgrade compared to carlo to clifton unless a third team is invloved that gives a bruins a RHD to replace carlo there's no way sweeney does this deal

I didn’t mean to sound like I was low on Carlo. He is a bread and butter guy for Bs. I just think his minutes could be replaced more easily than a top-6 point-per-game center.

Of course if Coyle is playing better this year vs last year, it’s all moot. Just keep him for 2C. But if not, Miller may be a fit as Krejci replacement.

here is the thing for coyle with me, He's back....... but i do not think he is the guy for that line of hall-coyle-smith/foligno, they are all net drivers all of them are goal scorers, we don't have a pure passer on that line which is the reason why hall isn't absolutely destroying the stat sheet. I do believe miller would put that line over the top if it was hall-miller-coyle, as he can make those long strech passes and take a sacrifice to the goal totals to make sure hall and whoever coyle/foligno/smith are putting up the goal numbers. I think bruins could find a replacement for carlo to an extent like manson but i think sweeney's long term goals are to build the O around pasta, lysell(hopefully if he becomes what he is projected to be), and studnicka, maybe even steen too the kid is balling in the AHL 10p in 7g and is 2p in 2g in the nhl and then the D is built around Mcavoy, carlo, lohrei, goalie will be Swayman for the future. so unless bruins are getting a young player u25 in return for carlo i just can't see him moving him as that screws with us now and for later post bergy, marchy era. In terms of value yes miller is higher quality but how many u24 6'5+ RHD dman are in the nhl right now Carlo, Cernak, Seider? pretty slim picking

A Studnicka break-out would solve a lot of problems for Boston (at least it sounds that way) if he could become that playmaking center.

In NJ, Taylor Hall’s MVP season came with rookie 18-yr old center (Hischier). It was a season-long, “Here, let me do it”

ya true stud is a high energy 2 way guy he put on over 20 pounds in the offseaon which was crazy because he got faster too. i think he should get more try's at that 2c spot, definitely will for sure next season, i think he has the potential to be a solid 2c but only time will tell really as for right now though unless it's just chemistry issues i think bruins need to target a ryan strome or jt miller as they are basically the closest things bruins can find that resemble krech's game and that we should be able to afford and look how well hall and smith did with krech that whole line was ppg or just under once hall was acquired at the TD

Clearly you don’t watch him then, he’s quite possibly the most versatile forward in the nhl he can play powerplay and penalty kill, match up against other teams top lines, score at a point a game pace and play any of the 3 forward positions. That’s worth a whole lot more than the cap dumb debrusk is and a late 1st

I do watch him and know exactly who he is and what his value is. He’s worth a 1st and a quality prospect and mid range prospect.

And Debrusk is not a cap dump and the pick won’t be late. At least by my definition of late anyway. You keep dreaming for 3 top 10 picks though 👍🏻 Let me know how that works out.

The 1st will most likely be in the last 1/3 of the first round which I consider late, also you just said what you think he’s worth but the trade you suggested doesn’t match that. We agree on the first and the extra prospect but debrusk or studnicka are not “quality prospects” the only one of those boston has is Lysell

The your evaluation of the prospects is incorrect. Lysell is high end prospect. Studnicka is a quality prospect with middle 6 ceiling who is NHL ready and no place to play.

Every team trying to acquire players down the stretch are playoff caliber team and will pick in the bottom half. The idea the pick has no value is laughable. Last season Boston finished 3rd in division and picked 21st -Lysell. A pick everyone scoffed at as late and now everyone wants. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Almost every team that trades a 1st comes with top 10 protection these days. And the reality is from pick 16 to 40 the quality is pretty much the same. Boston will be picking on the same area again.

As far as Debrusk goes the take on him on here is laughable. A 24 year old who has not hit UFA status that has averaged 23g per 82 games is considers a bust, a cap dump, valueless, a trade detriment. It’s a joke.

Yes he had a terrible year tied multiple reasons. Deeper look shows reality.

Year 1 19 goals 11 shooting %
Year 2 27 goals 18.5 %. Not sustainable and unrealistic
Year 3 16 goals 11%
Year 4 5 goals 5.9 % with lots of reasons behind it
This year back to 12% and on pace for 15-20 goal season

The expectations that he is going to be 30g 70p player off of draft slot and year 2 is ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as basing his value off of last year. He’s a 20g 40p guy. That has value. Far more than most prospects.
