Girard is going to cost a lot. Cost control and a lot of term for a capable top 2 D = you're paying up to get him, even if he is on the market and sort of doesn't fit with Colorado's insanely deep D core.

I think the Isles would be better off going after Lindholm. But it likely costs a 1st and a prospect like Bolduc.

Lindholm will likely be extended. They are competitive, the division is terrible so they can be a playoff team, and they have plenty of cap space and no internal replacement.

Agreed. I feel like the Girard "rumor" has gone a lot farther here than needed. He's the perfect fit in Colorado long term, with Byram, Makar, and Toews in that top 4. Maybe a couple of years down the road he gets moved, but right now, why would they even consider breaking them up?
