That EDM trade is so dogsh*t, no way you're not an Oilers fan. One of the worst cap dump trades of all time. Literally 4 cap dumps for basically nothing. What is this?

Considering 3 of those contracts expire this year, SJ gets some interesting prospects. They may not be the top prospects but they have NHL potential. Konovalov looking to be a decent goalie prospect which SJ could use. Savoie has 10G 7A in 10 games as a 19 year old at U of Denver. Marody is NHL ready, just no chance for him in Edmonton.
Reimer and Bonino are nothing special and don't have much value anymore.

    ????????

Konovalov doesn't look very interesting and isn't all that much better than Melnichuk, and Marody is good in the AHL but 24 so not really even a prospect anymore. They have little to no value to us. Savoie is the only player there that raises our eyebrows which we would like for sure.

Russell, Kassian, Koskinen and Turris are all pure cap dumps which total 10.6M this season and Kassian doesn't come off the books for another 2 seasons. That's easily worth at least a 1st rounder to offload.

Bonino doesn't have much value but Reimer literally leads the league in SV%. Not sure I understand your rationale.

Yeah detroits not doing that. No way were trading young pieces and multiple picks for a guy about to become a ufa. We're not a playoff team. If you think your getting a return that good for hertl you're gonna be disappointed.

    ANA - Ducks decline
    NSH - meh
DET - Way too much from Red Wings. Take out Veleno or Berggren
    EDM - Sharks decline
TOR, PHI - look fair to me
WAS - caps decline. Johnson is a solid prospect.
NYI, BOS - just not worth it for SJS

Flaw in your logic. Kosk is easily playing up to his contract in every way his win loss record is on par with the best in the league. Save percentage very respectable. Turris and Russell could be sent down with little to no cap hit and kass is easily worth his paycheck when healthy suggesting should take a first to offload him is purely foolish to even suggest. So where exactly are these cap dumps oilers should be paying for?

Where are these cap dumps? Turris and Russell can be sent down with little to no cap hit. Kosk is playing arguably above his pay grade even if want to look at him in the most negative way can’t suggest he isn’t worth his paycheck based on his play this season. Kassian when healthy is easily worth his paycheck. He’s a spectacular skater for a big rugged guy that has shown numerous times to have soft hands with the puck on his stick can play with skilled forwards or depth forwards very versatile player.

Oilers easily decline because of the quantity of depth removing from organization all at once effects both big club and Bakersfield too much.

    Absolutely agree.

    - Reimer is not an upgrade on Koskinen and he has an extra year, which would effectively block Skinner who appears to be ready now.
    - Bonino is effectively done, zero points and -3 in 15 games this year, yet he has a 2-year contract. He's last year's Kyle Turris with a larger contract. Turris > Bonino.
    - the other Oilers players here (Russell, Kassian) are useful in their roles and would have to be replaced if moved. Marody has no value but Konovalov has some for sure.

Bottom line: there's nothing in this package worth giving up a Cole Caufield-level prospect (Carter Savoie). Even if it was just Koskinen and Turris going back I wouldn't do it because it doesn't improve the Oilers and it complicates next years cap.

I’m less against the idea of bringing in a goalie with an extra year on his deal as long as he’s a reliable guy. Don’t think it blocks skinner because I think it’s fair to question if smith will play out his second year. This current injury and seeing the set backs he’s had truly don’t know if he plans to play next year. I love smith and hope he does but also fear putting skinner in the same situation kosk has faced 2 years in a row now. I just don’t think this is the goalie to take that chance on. Rather Allen even korp.

I understand where you're coming from, but Allen or Korpisalo?? That makes no sense, I'd rather re-sign Koskinen than bring in either of those guys.

Allen has had 1 good year in his last 5 and Korpisalo has sucked for years.

Think it is a different situation than Richards. Just my opinion on Richards but here it goes. Richards was caught entering Canada with illegal drugs...probably even prescribed drugs. Gotta believe the Kings like virtually all pro teams "sanction" the use of painkillers etc. Richards was probably told to keep his mouth shut about his dealer (the Kings) and he would be paid his full contract. Kings would wanted to get out of Richards's contract and found it with the help of the other owners....really circumvention of the cap.
Would the other owners agree to cap circumvention for the Sharks for the Kane situation? I say no, but certainly you have a valid point.

Given Kane’s notoriety, I see the other owners as having two choices:
    1. They allow the sharks to let Kane “resign” and have his contract voided.
    2. They force the sharks to stew in the mess and $7 million cap hit for Kane (whose problems have been well documented)

I think both options are fairly likely. If Bettman has his way, though, Kane will have his contract voided. He’s a blight on the league as well as the team.

Thing is I can see the team just wanting change in goal it’s been the same for awhile. Yes skinner coming in brings some of that change. Even if the organization was willing to offer him a short term deal I’m not certain he would sign it. He’s taking a cut in pay regardless but will he take a bigger cut to stay in Edmonton where both the fan base and media hasn’t exactly been welcoming to him? I don’t think he dislikes it here or anything but certainly see reasons why he might be more willing to just move on and experience a change probably make a bit more. I’m open to resigning kosk as much as you seem to be but our voices are a very small select few out of a fairly large fan base. I just see him returning very unlikely.

Yah. I don’t see any of these trades happening. Hertl isn’t going to DET. They might squeeze into the playoffs (similar to rookie Matthews, Marner leafs team) but I don’t see them spending all that capital on a rental when there window is just barely starting.

That EDM trade is horrific. First of all, in our division and if it’s a cap dump we have to be getting way more.

EK9 will most likely either be buried or find some kinda of termination.

Not gonna buyout vlasic. At least this year. Maybe in 2 years where the buyout for jones is closer to being done and past the height of its cap hit. And on a side note. He hasn’t been this year. He isn’t 7 mil good but a solid d-man, sure thing.

This is a troll AGM, right? That EDM trade borders on a parody, it's really bad and you should feel bad.
