For immediate on ice value, you would think the Jets are better with Dubois instead of 9.9m in Dvorak and Andersen

If Copp was willing to sign that deal, Jets nation would rejoice.

Much rather just have harkins/svech/vaselainen replace copp, and get something done longterm with dubois than any of this, damn that dumb Wheeler deal.

If only Copp would sign for that. As far as the trade goes, Montreal unfortunately doesn't have a single asset to open up the conversation for Dubois with, if the Jets ever thought of trading him.

This is hilarious cause just a couple of months age Jets fans were saying nothing less than Suzuki or Caufield + for Dubios, see Windjammer comment.

Exactly, now the value of both has dropped. Suzuki has a bad contract now and Caufield was never an option. Caufield is a small, vastly inferior version of Laine. Why would the Jets go backwards?

I mean this trade is horrible lol. Anderson is bad, Dvorak is meh, and that is going to be like a mid 20's pick. PLD is arguably the best player on the team right now

doesn't montreal keep the better of the two picks this draft? Does that not make this pick probably a lottery pick the way they are going.

I like Dubois but i would not trade the shot at wright for Dubois straight up even, let alone adding dvorak and anderson

You are nuts, Suzuki's contract is not bad it is actually really good for a 1st line center and on what planet is a scoring winger not an option?! I will agree that Caufield is smaller than Laine but he works harder, is better defensively and is not JUST a shooter. He is actually a smaller player but a HUGE upgrade on Laine as he plays a 200 foot game and isn't just a one trick pony. His hockey IQ is also way higher than Laine's you see this in his decisions with the puck and without it. He doesn't only find the soft spots in coverage but also manipulates opposing defenses to open up passing options as well. You can have 100 Laine's and they wouldn't makeup the difference in hockey IQ with a single Caufield.

Montreal is not going to make the playoffs in 2021-22 even IF we got Dubois, that means at worse our pick would be 16th not in the 20's. The trade itself is bad as long as that 1st is outside the top 15 but since the pick would be in the top 15 and more likely in the top 10 Montreal wouldn't take that trade.

That is a hilarious post. Trying to compare Caufield to Laine. At 18 Laine was scoring 36 goals in the NHL. At 20 Caufield has a career total of 4 goals, and can't crack one of the worst offensive cores in the NHL. You also can't compare them defensively. Laine wasn't good, but did put in an effort. Caufield is abysmal. He has absolutely no clue of what to do on his side of center ice. Until Caufield actually scores regularly, he's not a scoring winger.

The main point on Caufield though is that the Jets gave up an infinitely better, much more proven winger in Laine to get Dubois. Why would they turn around and trade Dubois for the mini-me version of Laine now? They would have just kept Laine.

With regards to Caufield not being in the lineup, the coaches in Montreal are morons, although I wouldn't want Caufield in Montreal right now anyway because of how bad the team is doing. No sense in ruining a kid by playing him in a losing environment. Also 4 goals in 10 NHL games is a great pace for the kid, this year whatever can go wrong has gone wrong for the Habs. Even you as a Hab hater have to admit that the Habs are no where near as bad as their record indicates. The D is bad and the center position is weak but we really should be competing for a WC spot not a lottery pick and NO ONE on the planet would have guessed that Montreal would have only 4 wins through 15 games.

Not liking poor value trades that don't give Winnipeg anything they need doesn't make me a Hab hater. It just means I don't think the Jets will accept a trade, if they even trade Dubois, that doesn't help make the Jets better when they are trading a young, core piece.

No, I actually agree with you here that the Above trade doesn't make sense either does trading for caufield since the weakness on the Jets isn't on the wing. What makes you a Habs hater is the way you ALWAYS run down Habs players. Just look at your comment above about Suzuki being on a bad contract, a PPG top line center signed at 6.75 Mil for 8 years makes it a bad contract?! How many other teams 1C is paid 6.75 mil or less?

I like how you massage the numbers there to try and make the numbers look more palatable. It's almost like to you know Suzuki's extension is an overpay.

Suzuki is on his entry level now, but after this year is being paid $7.875. Also, to be clear, Suzuki isn't now and never has been a point per game player over a season. I know you are trying to use a small sample size with a few games against Detroit where he played well to try and pump his tires, but over time, he will settle into his norm. Which IMO will be the 40-50 point range he's always played at. Could I be wrong?Possibly, but that is my opinion.

That also doesn't make me a Habs hater. I just don't see things with the bleu, blanc et rouge glasses you see things through. Remember you told us Domi was a guaranteed 70 point player worth a first plus minimum, Caufield would be challenging for rookie of the years honours with a 30 goal minimum season, etc. I just didn't and don't agree with you is all.

To be fair on Caufield I wasn't the only one who thought he would be competing for rookie of the year honors. Every pundit and analyst out there had him penciled in for winning it. As for Suzuki TBH I was being lazy and didn't check his contract numbers as I am currently working as well as posting lol, that is my bad. Also on Suzuki, projections at worst AR for him to hit between 60-70 points this year but his current rate is a ppg whether you like it or not that is the truth. You run down EVERY Habs player as much as you can every chance you can and expect no pushback from Habs fans. Well my friend I call a spade a spade and you in my book are a Habs hater.
