-I'd be surprised if someone gave up more than a 3rd for Lehkonen. I get that Habs fans love him, but every team has guys like him.
-Edmonton giving up a 1st to downgrade their goaltending situation seems like poor asset management.

based on? closest comparable is the savard trade at the deadline last year, and the return was a first. So unless the market is filled with rental dman at the deadline this could very well be the return if Habs retain salary.

And Chiarot is 3X better than Savard

Savard returned a 1st because he plays physical, Chiarot is better all around and more nasty. Chiarot will bring a 1st I think

noone should pay a first on the basis of being "nasty"

so instead should reference nothing and just make up values out of thin air? Chiarot currently sits tie for 2nd for goals by a dman maybe his return should be a first a top d prospect and a 3rd for good measure.

Armia's three plus years at 3.4m makes him almost untradeable IMO. 3rd/4th liners just don't make that much in a cap strapped league.

maybe chalk it up as an overpay and that chiarot wont get that return, im sure bergevin will sign him to 6x6 anyways

an overpay based on your personal opinion? or maybe it was just the way the market played out for a vet dman at the deadline, for sure this year there could be a flood of dman on the market and than Chairot could certainly only a fetch a second but completely logically to look back at last years TDL to find a comparable.

At this point i'm not sure bergevin is going to be allowed to do much of anything when it comes to major signings.

well with way the habs season is going i'm sure we will see what price he fetches. Every deadline theres 1st rounders thrown around by teams in contention without care so i'm not sure a 1st is an overpay, especailly when you consider any team making that deal is giving away at best a 20-25th overall pick, but very possibly an even later pick.
