I've seen this starting to become more and more of a debate. Who do you guys think is better?

one currently leads the NHL in scoring, and also has a Hart trophy, Art Ross trophy, and a Ted Lindsay Trophy, and has 2 100 point seasons and a 50 goal season, and has made it past the first round
and the other one has Maurice Richard trophy and also had a very good NHL debut

Drai, best 3 players in the league are McDavid-Mack-Drai, Matthews comes right after though

If we go by goal scorer its Matthews if we go by playmaking Draisaitl

As rn Matthews goals per game pace is 2nd in the league at .591 while Draisaitl is 7th in the league at .435 and we need to keep into account that despite Draisaitl playing 145 more games the difference between the two is 9 goals.

Despite that both rn are top 5 centers in the NHL.

So in the end it all depends on what you want. Neither is better nor worse than the other unless you look at very specific micro stats and factors. But considering age and goal scoring pace got to go with Matthews as once he is 100% comfortable with his healed wrist oh boy were probs gonna see him go on a big run. That and apparently this year he decided to challenge Barkov for the Selke as his even strength defense went from 46% to 85%

I'd personally switch Mack and Drai but yeah, my top 4 would be around that

I don't see how Recency Bias has anything to do with this. Draisaitl has always been the better player, he's just now beating Matthews at the only thing he's Elite at.

The question was Draisaitl over MacKinnon, not Matthews. Everyone agrees he's better than Matthews. Most people seem to think MacKinnon is better than Draisaitl. Personally, I think Draisaitl is number 2. Matthews is a distant 4th.
