The 2022 pick conditions on the Seth Jones trade says the following: "Conditions: If Chicago wins one of the the 2022 draft lotteries, the pick becomes their 2023 1st round pick" (from 2022 draft tool)

But with the lottery changes in effect for 2022 draft, the maximum one team can jump is 10 spots. So if Chicago finishes dead last this season, and teams in #12-16 range win the two lotteries, does that mean the #1 overall pick could transfer to Columbus?

Is it top-2 protected or lottery-protected?

The NHL specifically says that the 2022 1st round pick given to Columbus is conditional on it not being a Top 2 pick.

Not whether Chicago wins one of the 2022 draft lotteries.

Those are two different scenarios



Please rewrite the trade on the site because what is currently written is misleading.
