Anderson makes more sense in terms of contract length, but I do think he is more useful to MTL than Hoffman, so it would cost more. I also think you need to add a bit more value going MTL's way in this deal.

Matheson is a LHD right? We have plenty of those... especially with Edmundson being back shortly and plenty of prospect in the farm.... it's RHD that we are missing. So unless you are ready to part with Letang or Marino... I dont think you would acquire Hoffman or Anderson.

Honestly, the Habs shouldn't be making ANY moves in which they are taking on salary and term unless its for a superstar talent. They should be decreasing the salary on their already over the cap team that is one of the worst teams in the league, not adding to it.

Even if Matheson was worth more Hoffman, which I don't think he is, Habs still shouldn't do this.

Ruhwedel may not put the points like Holl does, but Ruhwedel is a better all-around dman. This is a huge overpayment for Holl.

switch Anderson or Hoffman with Armia and Kulak, and Pens retain $1.5 M on Matheson.

if the habs do go into sell mode, which is very likely, the key candidates to be move would begin wtih Chiarot and Lecky, if they do move a player with term it would be to create cap space, i dont see them wanting to take on a 27 year old LD with that term left when you have Edmundson, romanov, ghule and norlinder on the left side already going into next season.
