Mmm, I'd say this depends on what direction the Penguins decide to go after this season. Clearly this season, they are looking to make the playoffs with or without Crosby and Malkin. I honestly feel the team is at a crossroads with Malkin's contract coming to an end, I think how well the pens do this season is going to fully dictate which direction the teams moves forward in, whether that is continuing to be competitive or moving towards a rebuild. If the Penguins decide it's in their best interests to start a rebuild, than bringing in Andrew Copp as a long-term piece to their lineup doesn't make much sense, but if the team decides they can be competitive, then maybe Copp makes for a sensible addition. Heck, if the team saw fit to rebuild, they might just try to flip Kapanen for draft picks, so I don't see them trading Kapanen who is a pending RFA for a rental in Andrew Copp and just letting him walk in the off-season
