    14. Brad Marchand 0.400

So now that you know that, how do you think this is a fair trade for the Hawks?

Kubalik's goals per game rate is 0.3676, not 0.384. Your list is also out of date. Kubalik is 31st in goals per game among active players (min. 10GP) nhl.com

Girard is 3 years younger and is a top pair D man which is a more valuable position than a winger. Plus hes locked up long term already. Girard has more value than Kubalik so I added the 2nd to make up for it, then added the Strome for Bowers swap which also adds a bit more value going to the Avs. Its not far off from what @wadejos123 and I discussed a couple weeks ago where he posted Kubalik and a 2023 2nd for Girard. The comments there also thought the trade value was tipped in CHI's favour which is why I added Strome and Bowers to the deal

FWIW girard has the best penalty differential in the entire league by far he really is the connor McDavid of penalty differential so definitely merit both ways

I love Girard, but that really is a massive haul for colorado with dylan Strome being a comfortable 40-60 point scorer yearly and bowers not doing so great

Strome being a comfortable 40-60 point scorer? Hes only had 2 seasons above 0.5P/GP (18-19 and 19-20) and both of those seasons he was playing with elite linemates. Hes been on the decline the past 2 years when separated from those scorers. In 18-19 on the Hawks he was on the ice with DeBrincat or Kane 89.93% of the time and in 19-20 he was on the ice with DeBrincat or Kane 88.54% of the time which boosted his point totals

Strome was kinda a last minute add here, Id be fine removing him and Bowers and adding another pick going to COL if you think the value gap between them is that big. Or swapping Bowers for Kaut if you think that would make a difference

The main idea was Kubalik+2nd for Girard but when that was posted here the comments think CHI should add to that, and I agree with them.

That was his gpg 3 weeks ago but your number is accurate however, I don't see how you're getting that list on nhl.com? You realize the kind of damage Kubs would do in Colorado's top 6 versus playing next to an aging Toews and a rotation of non elite wingers on the other side? I understand why you want him. That said, i'm not discrediting Girard at all or his age or friendly contract, but the Hawks struggle with goal scoring and Kubs has very limited miles on his skates having only broken through two years ago. I don't see these two being that uneven of a trade honestly, maybe Chicago sends a 2nd rounder but (2) 2nd rounders now or what you had before was a bit much IMO.

Strome is still a .59ppg player in the league. His stats fell as he battled a ankle injury, flu/covid, a undiagnosed concussion, and a 20 game experiment at wing that went bad all in the prior two seasons. Yes, he put up great numbers playing next to Cat or Kane and occationally both, but when you have a star winger on his side you want someone to perform exactly like Strome has when you don't have a "star" center. He has a elite IQ, great passing, great hands and good net front, but is a bit slow for a forward, not physical and doesn't play good defense at all. Our coach, now fired, was benching him for the latter reasons trying to be a physical defensive first team which has led us into 2nd to worst team in the NHL so take it with a grain of salt. Needless to say, the swap for Bowers heavily favors the Avs based on how Bowers is playing.

Girard + Bowers = Kubalik + Strome + 3rd (or Stillman, or Kalynuk, or Beaudin)

I think both Kubalik and Strome are huge adds for Colorado and think they are good fits. Girard would be great in Chicago for the future.

I set the hyperlink text to nhl.com but the link should take you to the stats section sorted by G/GP with the min 10 GP filter.

I just think D are worth that much more than forwards. The age difference and long term contract Girard is on just adds to that value difference even more imo. Kubalik is a great goal scorer but realistically hes just barely outscoring Girard in the past 2 seasons (44P in 68GP = 0.647P/GP for Kubalik and 35P in 56GP = 0.625P/GP for Girard)

I took out Strome since I don't think as highly of him as some others do. I think the 2nd + 2nd for 4th pick swap to make up the difference between Girard and Kubalik is being pretty generous tbh. I wouldn't do Girard + Bowers for Kubalik + Strome + 3rd.

I agree both Kubalik in COL and Girard in CHI seem like great fits though

Well Kubs isn't a point guy, he's a goal scorer with one of the best shots in the league. Hard to compare him using points versus goals as it's the wrong analytic as he's not a setup man so he won't look great when including assists.

If Colorado wants to move Girard for Kubs, why not include one of the plethora of bottom 3 LHD D men the hawks have? I'd argue Kalynuk, Caleb Jones, Beaudin, Stillman all have as much upside as Dermott if not more. I don't care for Dermott for the record though.
