Hmm okay. Feels like every time I saw the Avs, he was with Makar, but maybe I'm remembering wrong or just happened to catch those games.

Bednar mixes it up more than most, so you very likely did see Makar and Girard together at times (e.g. after the Avs were on the pk). Toews was with Makar more often than not though, which put Girard with Graves, Nemeth, etc. depending on the injury list at the time. He was the LHD most often tasked with playing on the right though.

Cool. Though actually, Girard's most common partner last season was Toews (about 272min), followed by McDonald, Graves and Makar (all around 150min or so).

A lot of the time with Toews was when Makar was injured (a dozen or so games). Girard played on the right when they were paired up and also when he was with Graves. He would have played on the left when with Makar, and I think they tried both when he was with MacDonald and Byram. Tough to totally keep track.

In any case, he seemed very comfortable regardless of who he was with or what side he was on. He's just a great player that does anything and everything asked of him. I wish he got more credit around the league and even from the contingent of Avs fans that get hung up on his size.

Well, if it means anything, he has a lot of respect from Blues fans.
