Difference is Krebs is a center on an ELC and Tuch is signed long term at less than $5 mil. Those two items alone are worth more than Buch and Lundkvist from their perspective.

Whatever the difference is between Buch and Tuch in value, that value is negligible based on the needs of the teams in context.

I think it is two fold. 1. Trouba can and has played on his offside in the past and 2. Trouba's NMC becomes a M-NTC in 2024 right when Schneider's ELC expires so he can potentially slide on in to the lineup then.

It's a big "coulda would shoulda" situation here. I have to assume the asking price was much higher in the Summer than it was now, and that's why NYR backed out once they started signing Zibanejad and Fox. As you can see with your current team, next year the Rangers have 14 contracts signed with 2.5mil space. This is obviously impossible.
