Sharks jump in on Eichel - Calgary trade

Description

This is purely hypothetical, and would be a dream scenario if the rumoured Eichel for Tkachuk+ trade happens. Presumably Buffalo would want to flip Tkachuk, since he probably doesn't fit their timeline and their gonna have to pay him this offseason. In this scenario, the Sharks come in as the 3rd team and get the impact player they're missing to put next to Hertl. Obviously the Sharks would have to do some cap gymnastics to make this work (and to try and sign Hertl and Tkachuk in the offseason), so they'd have to send Labanc back in the deal (the Sabres could play him on the top line and then trade him for a haul either at the TDL or in the offseason.

Yeah I assumed the offer was a little light. What more needs to come back from the Sharks end? Another higher end prospect like Merkley and a 2/3rd?

The Sharks aren't trading with Calgary in this scenario, this is only for if the Eichel - Calgary trade happens and Buffalo wants to flip Tkachuk. I'm really not worried about the flames would want, just gauging if the value is there for Buffalo to accept the trade. And as for Eklund, lol no, if he was on the table we might as well get Eichel ourselves.

That's like 2x the value of monahan

Labanc is a better asset than Monahan

Much cheaper, better Corsi, more term etc.

Monahan only has like 15 more pts since 2019

Merkley and their 2022 1st is a superb value combo

What you said has to be a joke. There’s no way Monahan is worth that much, I sure wouldn’t pay that much for him, and Eklund isn’t going anywhere at all. Keep dreaming.
