Could be a no brainer but could also be one year of Tkachuk for the Sabres then they lose him for nothing. I doubt it would be Coronato and Zary, one or the other likely.

Trevling; if he moves Tkachuk (even alone he’s bat****), but also Coronato, is actually making one of the worst trades ever

I am not to knowledgeable on the prospect pool in Calgary, so he is just more of a place holder. Happy to hear who you think could actually slot into those two prospect slots. I assume they would be B to A- prospects.

Moving Tkachuk alone is insane. If he moves Coronato he’s throwing away a gem prospect (imo). That was an amazing selection for them.

I wouldn’t even offer Tkachuk but I mean anyone named Coronato, Zary packaged with Tkachuk is actually just giving Buffalo an early Christmas present. I mean their fans deserve if but damn that would hurt to be a Flames fan.

Even seeing Pelletier involved would be scary.

RFA with a 9Million Qualifying offer, he can either extend long term for less or accept a QO and walk as a UFA after next season.

Buffalo would probably just flip Tkachuk as an RFA no?

Hmm, interesting. I guess worst case scenario is they flip him, if he doesn't want to sign in Buffalo.

You'd hope so if you're a Buffalo fan but his value has clearly taken a hit if he's included in a package like that, there seems to be no ground for a long term deal if what's above is actually on the table, teams now know that and Buffalo would be slipping him at less value than he is in the package above. That doesn't mean that the haul wouldn't still be a good deal for Buffalo but compared to Tkachuk at the start of last year is certainly discounted. Teams like STL would be willing to wait out a 1 year QO at 9 million to get a shot at Tkachuk long term as a UFA you'd think.

I'd still think Buffalo would get some decent pieces for him, at least some not bad draft picks, combine that with the rest of the haul from Calgary and they made out pretty well from a ****ty situation.

Absolutely, they seem to be seriously using their leverage of letting Eichel rot on LTIR to their advantage and good for them.

Flames fans need to look at how well the Hanifn, Lindholm deal worked out, Fox was not signing here Treliving knew that well ahead of time so he got what he could for him. I can see the same happening here, Carolina is literally left with Noel Gunler from all the Adam fox stuff and Calgary has Hanifin and Lindholm, two years from now Buffalo will likely be without Tkachuk, without Eichel sitting on a mountain of draft and prospect capital.
