I'd don't believe this Friedman report at all. Leafs have barely seven NHL Dman and can't be trading any away.

Kral looked really, really good in his viewings so far. he may be an option they want to see more of. Plus we need to begin looking at moving superfluous contracts like holl and mitz so gassing them up with top pair play and moving them makes sense.

Also I don't see anything in this trade that would make Toronto move dermott to long Island.

Who is mitz? Holl is hardly a superfluous contract. He's been a real good bargain for two seasons, but admit he's off to rock start this year. As you suggest nothing in the trade for the Leafs.
Leafs really don't have any AHL dman that could be considered NHL capable now.

Dermott's nickname is mitz. Der-mott>der-mitt> Mitz.
The team has been calling him that for awhile now.

And holl hasn't been great and with liljegren being fantastic (already stolen 1st pair rd) and Brodie following him up 2 mil for a 3rd is too much. He is extra (which is great news from a roster building perspective as he was always a stopgap)

And again, Kral has looked really good at the nhl level when he played briefly (and Menell is probably good enough to get a look too.)

Sorry you me lost at Kral. He has never played in the NHL. "Get a look too" isn't good enough o deplete your NHL level Dman. Actually I think Menell has a poor as a Marlie. Teams need seven probably eight NHL calibre Dmen to make it through a season.

I should have been clear about Kral, I am talking pre-season, which is what it is, but he is certainly worth a look and he did look NHL calibre in those games.

And I do actually agree that I wouldn't want to make a move just yet, let it play out a bit more personally to see exactly what we have but I can see putting his name out there and showcasing him now to build a market. The point is neither of Holl or Dermott will likely be leafs next year
