I don't think that would matter in the negotiations tho. Like I mean, it would still be who can give up the better prospect, which leafs can pick and choose between a few. Plus, would NYR be interested in him?

As a Stars fan, I hope we miss the playoffs too. I'm tired of Dallas being a middle of the pack team. Nill is too inept to pull off a full "win now" mode & he's too stubborn to actually commit to rebuilding around our youth. I would rather Dallas royally suck for a couple of years, hit the draft hard, focus largely on development, and actually compete for a Cup as Benn & Seguin's contracts are expiring. Being the 14th best team in the league year in & year out does absolutely nothing for the future of the organization.

The thing with the Stars is that they already have a solid foundation in place. Between Hintz, Gurianov, Heiskanen, Oettinger, & Robertson the base of a very good team is already set. For some reason Nill is hellbent on bringing in past-their-prime veterans to take roster spots instead of the NHL ready youth that we have. Guys like Dellandrea and Macherin should not be in the AHL (or forced overseas) by the likes of Michael Raffl and Luke Glendening.

And don't even get me started on the 4-year deal he gave to a 36-year old Ryan Suter that also came with a full NMC, or the fact that Oettinger is currently in the AHL after the year he had last year.

The Stars have the young core to build around, but as long as dinosaurs like Nill & Bowness are in charge of running the organization, they are going to continue to be a team with no identity & no plan for the future.
