Okay, so Malkin's second contract was a five year deal carrying an AAV of 8.7M. Here is what I don't get, in all five years of his second contract, he has no-move clause, you heard that right, for all five years, and we are talking Geno's second contract, not third. How can Geno have a NMC in all five years of his second contract? We know players can't have trade protection built into their contracts during RFA years, and surely not all the years bought on Geno's second contract are RFA years. If anything, only the last year of his second contract is a UFA year. Does this have something to do with him being Russian and his player status being approved for playing in North America?
