How is a top 4 defenseman not worth at least a 2nd round pick? You're crazy!

Look at the return David Savard got, for starters. They are pretty much the same defenseman

Hes worth more than a 4th, but I wouldn;t say hes a great top 4 guy. Hes a solid crease clearing guy, good on PK, but not quick IMO a slightly above average 2LD

Hes definitely worth a 2nd as a UFA to a team needing a 2LD.

Savard had a bit more pedigree and reputation, but on TB looked like a third pairing guy at times.

I think hes worth a late 2nd. Similar to what Graves got but without the player added (Graves is younger and slightly better than Chiarot imo)

Like him or not he fetches more than a fourth at the trade deadline. Habs would probably also retain if they are out of a spot not looking to add. That’s just how the trade deadline goes for a top 4 defenceman

He's better than Savard who was worth a late 1st and a 3rd a couple months ago.

Chiarot will be worth a 2nd+ at TDL for sure.

If you ask why everybody around you is wrong, maybe you should look at yourself first.

Look at what Dillon, Savard and others got, Chiarot can get good assests

Chiarot played most of last year with Weber on the other side. Will need to see how he fares playing top 4 minutes without a top end dman on the other side to get a better idea if he was carried by Weber or not. That will have a huge impact on his value.

He played literally more than any other player not named hedman (who he actually averaged more toi/game than) over the last playoffs.

He is tailor built for the playoffs and has proven this multiple times now between mtl and wpg.

And people somehow forget every year a player who can even play spot duty in the top 4 fetches a big price at the deadline.

Firsts are being thrown overboard every year so why would this "Not be happening"? Hell, Foligno fetched a first as a bottom six rental.

He's perfect as a 2LD if you have a puck rushing 2RD.

Chairot is physical and clears crease and is a good team guy, but hes slow and wont add much offensively. But pair him with a young guy who li9kes to rush the puck like a Sandin or Gostisbehere and thats a good partnership.

Savard had more pedigree/reputation and was a RD, which is why his value is/was higher,

Savard wasn't worth what TB paid for him though. It is possible to learn from past mistakes.
