Regardless, with that amount of retention it's a terrible deal for Chicago. They leave themselves with 11mil of dead cap and arguably get worse in the near term while not having their first.

Toews looks cooked and while Kane's talents are great he's of the age where the fall off is rapidly approaching (some of the more analytically minded would argue it's basically here already).
