Giroux and Nylander here are a bit iffy. I'd argue they were signed at exactly what they were worth.
Giroux was signed to that $8,275M contract back in 2013 when the salary cap was much lower. The cap hit percentage was 12.87, which is almost $10,5M with today's cap.
Nylander was overpaid until last year, but those negotiations were a farce. That contract couldn't have been considered fair back when he signed, even if when compared to Matthews and especially Marner Nylander agreeing to a below $7M was a work of a saint.
