If the Sabres were interested you’re definitely not getting anything good for your cap dump. You’ll take a fifth or sixth round pick and like it.

Oh the sabres wouldnt give up anything nice here, but i can see them retaining and flipping him. Thats the deal though, we take him on the cheap as a cap dump, and then we retain half and get whatever we can, hopefully a late first. We take the risk.

Flyers currently have 23 players on roster with Hayes on LTIR. They get some cap relief from the LTIR. (also Allison is on LTIR and his replacement is 125k cheaper)

Theres no need to trade anyone when Hayes returns, they'll demote/put on waivers Brown (or maybe NAK) and still have cap space for 13 forwards (including Hayes) and 7 dmen (Seeler is the 7th).
