Kubalik, who is a LW, for a Top 15 pick for the next draft ...

    And then ...

    Brannstrom from Mitchell

    No thanks.

    Ottawa declines.

To be fair...Kubalik is a 30 goal scorer and OTT hasn't had that in over a decade. There's a cost for certainty and if that's a TDL pick...you might make the playoffs considering how poorly TOR and MTL are playing

Easily one of the best offensive D of his generation* can't possibly have that much of an overall negative impact on his own team at the end of the day

He'd have to shoot on his own net or something

    * Gus has an career pts/60 of 1.5 which is elite

BUT he is that bad defensively. It's why he was released from a PTO and not retained by CGY MTL PHI NYI and back with CHI after injury to Caleb Jones.

Kubalik is not the type of player we need.

Of all our needs we have (there are a few), a Top 6 left-shot for the LW is not one of them.

If you had a top 6 right-shot RW that is a sniper and can score goals, Ottawa would be more interested.

As the OP, I obviously think this trade idea is pretty good for both sides.

OTT gets a sniper that I’ve been hearing they need.
They get a prospect of similar pedigree in Mitchell, which is better than a lot of posts I’ve seen.

Chicago gets a first this year and the prospect gets a fresh start.

Tell me what to improve on here please smile

I mean you just described your need and that's Kubalik. He's the Hawks best sniper. He just happens to be left handed. That's it.

I think you are putting too much stock into right handed vs Left Handed. Who really cares what hand they use to shoot if they are getting 30 goals? Kubalik is also able to play both sides just fine.

We need a different type of sniper.

If you are adding 30 goals to your lineup who cares if he’s a left shot! Not sure how the RW “sniper” market is looking right now but are you really going to go out of your way to get a guy like Rakell when Kubalik is right there?

We not only want a player that is a Top 6 sniper but also one that doesn't have to play on his off-side.

One of the reasons why is because it’s harder to give and receive a pass on your backhand than it is on your forehand.

It's something that Ottawa's coaching staff adheres to and one of the reasons we have tried getting Brannstrom to play as a LD instead of a RD.

Ryan Dzingel went from having a 20-25 goal season in Ottawa to scoring less than 10 in Columbus and Carolina.

When you trade for a player, he not only needs to be a good player but he also needs to be a good fit.

You and everybody else in the chat can try shoving this trade down our throats, but it's still a no from Ottawa.

I'm really not trying to be mean here. It's just conversation. No need to get offended. I think Kubalik would be a great fit because Stuztle can play RW and fee Kubalik for snipes all night long. Kubalik doesn't even play with Kane and he's gets snipes. I would do ALOT different than the current Hawks management....ALOT. Imagine if Kubalik actually played with Kane?!?!?! He'd be a 40 goal scorer.

They're getting back Mitchell (who isn't a slouch by any strectch) and OTT fans have been actively dumping on Brannstrom for about a year now. I haven't watch Brannstrom recently. I just read what OTT fans think about him and it's not very good.

Then it could change everything because the right side is where Ottawa needs to upgrade... But if like Sensonfire have tried to explain, if he's not a "natural" on RW, he won't fit.

Look at the ridiculous LW depth : Tim Stutzle (most skilled forward), Brady Tkachuk (most impactful forward), Alex Formenton (fastest forward), Nick Paul (best forechecker/defensive forward after C. Brown)

After that : Angus Crookshank (would be on the team right now if didn't injure himself), Parker Kelly (currently playing/also center), some very good prospects like Egor Sokolov, Ridly Greig and Roby Jarventie are also LW... and there's even more lol. We're hoping that Greig is a C because of the logjam. We are hoping Sokolov/Jarventie can also be RW for the same reason.

LW, LD and G are the 3 positions the Sens don't need to acquire anyone. They will most likely use some of these pieces (Brannstrom, for example) to upgrade the RW or RD (or even C)

If Kubalik is as good on RW, then I'M ready to pay Brannstrom and a (late) 1st. Problem is Ottawa wouldn't want that pick to be top-10 so maybe a protection would do

id do that sens trade, maybe add a protection to the 1st to ensure it stays out of the top 10 then add a bit more value to compensate for that somehow.

Based on this statement, you're making it sound like managing/coaching a hockey team is like playing NHL 22 on Xbox.

    It's not.

The one LW exception Ottawa will make when it comes to making an acquisition is Filip Forsberg.

    That's pretty much it.

Also, Kane isn't feeding Kubalik "for snipes".

That's a play-maker named either Jonathan Toews or Kirby Dach.

If Kubalik is being "fed for snipes" in Ottawa, it will be from Josh Norris or Shane Pinto.

Based on this statement, you're making it sound like managing/coaching a hockey team is like playing NHL 22 on Xbox.

    It's not.

Kubalik could probably go 35+ if he was playing with Stutzle. Playing Connor Brown or Tierney with Stutzle is just forcing him to adapt to a dump and chase type of player which we don’t want.

They're getting back Mitchell (who isn't a slouch by any strectch) and OTT fans have been actively dumping on Brannstrom for about a year now. I haven't watch Brannstrom recently. I just read what OTT fans think about him and it's not very good.

Sens fans aren't dumping on him, there's just clearly a disconnect between the player and the coach, and the writing is on the wall. In terms of his ability, there's no question he's an NHL ready player. He should be playing 2nd pair, PP2 in Ottawa.
