Oilers deal with Turris cap hit for another year because 1.6mil isn't that hard to deal with

You can have Turris if you think he'll work at C (hint: he won't, he's only effective as a winger now). But his cap is not an issue, he cost like 500k when waived. So a decent goalie prospect like Konovalov isn't going anywhere here.

Cool. If Malkin ever gets healthy, Pit is over the cap. Do you want anybody back?

He doesn't have to be good. Just cheaper and better than the other reasonably available top-six center options. Because it's so early in the year, almost every team thinks they can make the playoffs, and nobody wants to trade a top six center. Strome is a healthy scratch on one of the worst teams in the West. Schmaltz is -7 with 0 points in three games, on another one of them.

Crosby is expected back soon, so it's a short term need. Turris doesn't have to be a real top six center. He just has to pass the puck back to Guentzel or Kapanen, if they give it to him, and let them do the rest. Can he still pass accurately?

Strome is 100% available
Don’t think Schmaltz is
Turris totally isn’t

CHI aren't interested in that offer tbh. Plenty of bottom 6 forwards vying for spots. Strome would need to traded for picks/prospects or a more reasonable hockey swap.

I barely know the Pens. Who would you all want from them, for Strome?

I may be off the planet but I would have a preference of a prospect like Poulin/Legare involved in the trade talks. Not sure if they would consider moving either of them.

He's not good enough to be a bottom 6 C right now, let alone a stand-in top 6. Definitely not quick enough skating and skills wise to make things happen for top 6 wingers. Just surviving on the Oil 4RW against really easy comp for 9 mins a night. Would be better off just putting Evan Rodrigues at C. Strome makes a lot of sense as a buy low option though

So just a good prospect and $3M of cap space? Makes sense, for a 24 year old who's got a 50 point season. Sounds very fair, actually. On the other hand, Poulin and Legare were teammates last year in junior and are teammates this year in the AHL. If Pittsburgh is developing them together as linemates, they might hesitate to break them up. What do you think of Brock McGinn?

I think he's had a good start at PIT and they would be selling him high, on the other hand with Strome we would be selling him low. In all honesty, id be cool to see him given a chance which he will get his first today against the Canucks but a trade that would benefit us would be to move the Cap and gain a prospect/pick in exchange with some new cap coming into effect next year.

If he isn't -2 against Van, maybe a 2023 3rd?
