Possible Trade Targets for the Leafs this season

Description
This is all speculation. I won’t say trade values as I can’t personally say definitively what each team would want or be willing to part with. Let me know what y’all think in the comments. Also include players I might’ve missed.
Transactions
1.
CBJ
Columbus is rebuilding and Toronto looks like they’ll need a top 6 LW that can play with Matthews and Marner. Ritchie like what he brings unfortunately doesn’t have the foot speed to keep up with them.
    2.
    NSH
The biggest fish on the market would be a great fit in Toronto. However don’t think Toronto is gonna go after him. Probably be a lot. Won’t speculate on the value as I can’t personally say what Nashville would want in return
      3.
      SEA
Depending on where Seattle views themselves having Donskoi in a line with Kampf and Kase would be a great shutdown line.
        4.
        ANA
Again depending on where Anaheim is at the deadline, but getting either or both of Rakell and Manson would easily put Toronto as one of the top 3 teams in the NHL.
          5.
          TOR
These are all assets I feel Toronto would be willing to part with on the roster to even out salaries or include in those trades. Obviously they are not afraid to trade picks. Prospects I personally cannot say which ones.

That great one to go after but they have playoff aspirations. I doubt he gets traded to the however a great fit with Matthews and Marner or the 3rd line (which I like more)

I'd keep an eye on Troy Stetcher in Detroit if you are looking at RHD. Capable player, better underlying numbers than you'd expect, low cap hit/price tag.

I'd really rather avoid rentals. We wasted like 6 picks on rentals last season and the most games we got out of any of them was like 12. Hate them with a passion. Would much prefer to pay a bigger price tag for guys with some extra term.

I want to see Dubas go to that. He has always been the guy to say that he is not into rentals and would rather get guys with term. That said, Hertl would be really tempting.

That is his M.O. His tendency has certainly been to chase the guys with extra term, but for whatever reason (the expansion draft is the easy answer, but I don't think that's the best excuse) he completely threw that out the window last year.

The way he has spoken about it and how much it seemed to be his philosophy, I believe him when he says expansion played a role in that thinking. I do wonder how much the division and the perceived easier path to the final also played into it.

I don't doubt that the expansion draft was a factor, but I don't agree with that thinking. At least not to a certain extent. I could go into a whole rant about this, but tbh, I really don't feel like it right now.

I think rentals are the way to go and here my reasoning. Toronto has a really underrated prospect pool. They might lack high end star talent but the amount of potential NHLers in that pool is probably they most in the league. Lots of their pool is either at LW, C or RHD. These are all areas the Leafs needs to bolster heading into the playoffs. It’s evident that that’s where they’ll continuously buy at the deadline and that’s where they’ll hopefully get continuously better at.

Great option especially for a deep run. It expected that some player will have some bump and bruises along the way and having a capable RHD that’s not a rookie really helps out

The reason I like Domi is that that he gets those playoff type of goals we need. IMO Zack Hyman really didn’t on the Leafs. After he became a top line winger he became more of a puck carrier and shoot from just outside of the shoot rather than a guy digging for rebounds or going to the net hard for a deflection.

Domi can be yours for a 2nd. If he comes back and tears it up, could see someone parting with a 1st; but, one step at a time.

Don’t really want/need any of the players you are offering.

Would like to see them go after Miles Wood.
He scored 17 goals last year, has a low cap hit, and isn’t afraid to drop the mitts.

Domi makes sense for us he grew up in Toronto so he knows the Leafs very well and him and Marner played together in London they prob have some chemistry. Also Josh Manson is another interesting name as the leafs were interested in him before but the ducks wanted a kings ransom for him he would be a huge upgrade ove Holl.

Yea he would. If we get Manson I’d do the parings as:

            Reilly-Manson
            Muzzin-Brodie
            Sandin-Holl

Also Domi is kind of player I’d think would take a discount to be in Toronto’s he knows how much his Dad made just of commercials and etc.

Nah I’d put Manson with Muzzin and that’s ur shutdown pair and reklland Brodie are good together so I wouldn’t split them up.

Josh Manson would be a really expensive 8th defenceman

I don't doubt that the expansion draft was a factor, but I don't agree with that thinking. At least not to a certain extent. I could go into a whole rant about this, but tbh, I really don't feel like it right now.

Stopping yourself from going into old, endless rants about the leafs is key in enduring this life we have chosen.

I mean I guess Domi is fine for that. Thing with him is he is not really going to get you those goals around the net. He's not a goal scorer. But he is good at setting them up. And a pair like JT and Nylander are good at getting there. So is AM. So I do see the Domi fit.

Personally don’t know what will be given up but it’s player we are interested in

This is coming from CBJ. I’m saying they’ll trade you Domi, probably just for a pick, not any of the players you’ve offered.

            Sorry for the confusion 😬
