I mean we can always demote Koskinen down to the minors and let one of our goalie prospects play

Honestly, after watching Flower struggle behind Chicago's defense, and Koskinen looking solid in preseason and last night, I'm not sold on this. Our defense is not like Vegas in the sense of taking away grade A chances. Maybe one for one, but I think the 2nd can be spent better.

Idk beacuse Koskinen is super streaky and he will put up back to back shutouts and then put up numbers that are worst in the league

Odds are that Fleury recovers and has the better season of the two but the Oilers play super high event hockey and Fleury is currently having trouble adjusting to that "style" in Chicago.

I think it would be easier for MAF if he had a team in front of him (no seriously in any capacity), but you are justified in having reservations based on this start to the season. IMO, MAF is likely the best goalie on the market, and if EDM could use the upgrade this is a good trade for all parties.

It’s not that Chicago plays high event hockey, it’s that they are genuinely bad in all aspects. No goalie is going to have respectable results playing on this team up to this point.

Past 2+ seasons:

Fleury: .912
Koskinen: .911

Not sure that's worth a 2nd...

Overall team play and flow definitely plays into it. The GSAA of -7.4 (worst in the league) doesn't exactly inspire confidence that he'll immediately turn it around though depending on how much weight you give analytics. I have a lot of respect for Fleury and think he'll recover to an extent but would rather give Koski a few games while Smith is down and see if he steps up before I pay a second to gamble.

I mean Koskinen is a streaky goalie and everyone went through the same thing last year but I've seen some articles that suggested he wasn't in a good mental place last year with all the protocols and isolation. I don't think anyone would disagree that mental state would affect goalies more than any other position.

The second is to bring MAF cap down, I believe the Oilers would have more confidence in Fleury in net opposed to Koskinen
