Explications
If you want to trade for a top tier player in the NHL then you have to give up something.

This (https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1450545643278245889?s=20) is laughable.

Per linked tweet in the description (be nice if they actual allowed hyperlinks) Hague and Krebs both off limits, and a majority of VGK fans on here will say Tuch is a non starter too.

I agree, this is not a deal I would want for the Sabres either. Just not sure what VGK plans on giving up in a potential Eichel trade if all their future assets with value are off limits. Clearly there is some remorse in giving up Suzuki in the Patches trade.

Sabres should walk then. Marchessault and Dadonov aren't pieces Buffalo needs.

I think the question here becomes whether they can flip Marchessault for a prospect and pick that replaces who they can't get from Vegas. (Dadonov flipped as well)

I consider them cap dumps in the deal.

Tuch + Brisen + Dadonov + 1st is something I'd consider.

Marchessault is hardly a cap dump.

My point is that it doesn't have to be A+B+C.
It can be A+B+D, where you use D to get C in a separate move.
If one team can't match the package, find a way to spread it between two teams, where Buffalo is still satisfied and the other two are happy.

I feel like there's a bit of context missing in that tweet though-Vegas moves Hague and they're left with 6 NHL dmen, and absolutely zero depth below. Like, who's the dman you call up? Currently on their entire roster, there are zero players under contract in the AHL that have played a single NHL game. If you're adding Eichel, you can't leave yourself in a position like that, especially when you don't have the cap space to fill the hole.

Buffalo wouldn't accept though. It's not worth it.

You already said you'd accept Brisson, Dadanov, and a 1st. What if they could flip Marchessault for another prospect and a 1st?
My point is don't look at it like you are getting Marchessault, but what you can get in a flip that might equal Hague or Tuch.

Don't feel it's a risk worth taking. That's all based on contingency. We need to trade Eichel directly for a return feasible for his value.

It's a way to maximize the return (and lower the risk to the acquiring team). GMs can set up trades in advance or negotiate a 3 way, but even if something isn't already in place, it's easier to move a $5M guy than a $10M one.
Retention is more palatable as well and could increase the return again.

I see where your coming from but it would need to be a direct 3-way deal for it to work.

It's basically the same thing. It's just not a 3-way because not all 3 teams are necessarily involved with each other.
(Buffalo gets a handshake from Vegas and permission to talk to other teams to finalize the deal.)

It's difficult for any team to give up multiple firsts and prospects for one player, more so with all the factors at play. You have to be flexible and creative to find a good deal here.
