  4. 2023 1e round pick (CAR)
  5. 2022 2e round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Klingberg, John
  2. Holtby, Braden
Détails additionnels:
Canes decide they would have use for a top line offensive RHD and Klingberg fits that bill neatly. They also add a depth goalie as their current tandem is notoriously known from being a bit injury prone. DAL takes in a cap dump to make the move work financially, and also gather a good amount of future assets for their rebuild.

DAL
  1. Carrier, William
  2. Morozov, Ivan [Liste de réserve]
  3. 2022 1e round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. Pavelski, Joe (3 500 000 $ retained)
  2. Comeau, Blake
Détails additionnels:
VGK adds a top-6 center to bolster their core for their playoff run. This trade most likely will have another team included in retaining the remaining half of Pavelski's contract. DAL takes in some cap, as well as a prospect and a pick in the trade. VGK also adds a depth grinder in the exchange.
3.
DAL
  1. Kempný, Michal
  2. Hugo Has, Martin [Liste de réserve]
  3. 2022 1e round pick (WSH)
WSH
  1. Radulov, Alexander (3 125 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
WSH adds a veteran top-6 winger for their playoff run. Radulov could help them in forming a solid Russian line with Ovie and Kuzy. DAL takes in a cap dump, a prospect and a pick.
4.
DAL
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. Pánik, Richard
  3. 2023 4e round pick (NYI)
NYI
  1. Suter, Ryan
  2. Tufte, Riley
  3. 2022 2e round pick (CAR)
Détails additionnels:
Signing Suter was a mistake. Rumors said Isles were interested in Suter too, so maybe there's a trade to be done. Taking Bailey as he's cap wise the best option for Isles. DAL adds a pick and a prospect to even out the value, while also taking a meh contract off Isles hands.
5.
DAL
  1. Pettersson, Marcus (775 175 $ retained)
PIT
  1. Faksa, Radek
Détails additionnels:
Both of these guys have similar terms, but neither team have that great of use for them anymore. Imo a swap between them could work. PIT retains a bit to make the cap difference remain intact.
6.
DAL
  1. 2022 3e round pick (ARI)
ARI
  1. Khudobin, Anton
Détails additionnels:
Despite being in the middle of rebuilding, ARI needs a goalie. Hutton .702% save percentage isn't just doing it for them. Plus it'll help them reach the cap limit next year too. DAL receives a pick in the exchange.
7.
DAL
  1. 2023 3e round pick (TBL)
TBL
  1. Kiviranta, Joel
Détails additionnels:
Tampa's next multi year playoff depth target, like Coleman or Goodrow. Just going to be a much, much cheaper option.
8.
DAL
  1. 2022 4e round pick (MIN)
MIN
  1. Sekera, Andrej (750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Playoff depth defenseman

  4. 2023 1e round pick (SJS)
SJS
  1. Seguin, Tyler
  2. Benn, Jamie
  3. 2022 2e round pick (DAL)
Détails additionnels:
Both teams swapping two albatross contracts with each other. SJ adds a higher pick and a prospect to compensate on getting less total years and comparably younger players in the exchange.

Isles decline. They wouldn't go to that term for a reason. Isles could also get better value for Bailey IMO

Whoa. It's all good until SJs extremely valuable 2023 1st gets tossed over to Dallas with SJ not really saving much $ or gaining a player advantage. 😬

Otherwise good stuff

Dallas should heavily retool for sure ✔

The SJ trade is a bit of a throw off for sure, but the biggest value they gain is decreasing the amount of bad years left in their contracts by two, while also gaining two younger players meaning they won't have as many years at 35+ left.

For Suter's term, yeah it's dreadful. Just figured that NYI might be one of the only teams he'd be willing to waive that NMC for. Then it becomes a question of whether or not there's a trade to be made, and more importantly how much DAL would have to pay to get Isles agree to take the contract?

Bailey was added more or less as a tool to even out the long-term cap given that both of the players are owed around $15M over the course of their current contracts.

By the time WSH is sure they have enough LTIR cap space to add Radulov, Dallas will be back in the playoff hunt. Trade seems fair, though.

The one and the whole point of the exchange you left out in your evaluation

Paying $10M bucks for a 35+ player.

DAL takes in 4. SJ has only one. That's the main point. Neither team is close to competing in this scenario, but SJ can shorten the time period of how long they're bound by the albatross contracts.

As for DAL, the main point is retooling the core.
