Why are we soo willing to give Gibson a pass on 3 consecutive seasons of barely reaching .900 save percentage actually showing a trend of decline in all three years but we can’t give kosk a break because he had one down year that involved no preseason and had to carry the full weight of the team.

Intereresting that you say Oilers will be a top 8 teams at TDL....but Koshiken sucks. If the Oilers are a top team by TDL it's because Kosh has been good.

    A .917 S% in 18/19 is not barely reaching .900...

And Gibson has to carry the whole Ducks team as well. And the team (and especially the Defense) has had a lot of injuries. Gibson was also overused quite a bit at times last season. Yes, Gibson hasn't been as good as he once was, but it's not all his fault.

So if we are willing to say Gibson is still very good it’s not his fault then why is it can’t use a lot of the same excuses for a guy who posted a .917 in 19/20 season. Most people that I’ve had this debate with suggest the d being terrible ok fair enough except a lot of those same people I’ve noticed in separate threads tear apart oilers d as being terrible soo that seems like a mute point… I’m not suggesting kosk is better than Gibson but I will suggest over the past couple years the gap between them is a lot more narrow than I’ve seen suggested and the fact Gibson is signed long term after going .917,.904,.903 is a trend that shouldn’t be ignored and should raise enough concern to second guess some of the massive packages fans are purposing.

Anaheim is going to want more quality and less quantity dealing players like that. Can probably pull a lot of secondary stuff out of there because Holloway and/or the 2023 1st will likely be a firm demand. Gibson with his recent decline is probably similar to Price, may be up and down depending on injuries and the team in front of him but if he gets healthy you can catch lightning in a bottle like the Habs run to the finals last year.

I didn't say it isn't Gibson's fault at all, but it's not just his fault. I have never said Koskinen is a bad goalie. He isn't. If used correctly, he's a good goalie. The Oilers' defense is not good. If healthy, the Ducks' defense is better, but there have been some severe injuries. But that isn't the only reason why Gibson has struggled.

Why do you keep mentioning Gibson's .917 from 18/19? That's not a bad save percentage. And I always see you saying something along the lines of "3 bad seasons in a row" or "barely reached .900 the last 3 seasons" about Gibson in other threads. He wasn't bad in 18/19 and he also didn't barely reach .900.

Fair enough 2 bad seasons in a row not 3 I’ll give you that but all three of those seasons is a steady decline nevertheless. Idk if he would return to form and be a .920 type of goalie again it’s certainly possible but it’s also possible he doesn’t.
