nahh he's way better than savard. he's a defensive top 4 dman that can protect and shield a young guy like romanov.

He's not better than Avard or top 4 material. STL bottom 3 is very bad.

prime savard is better then chariot but between the two of them right now i prefer chariot because he's more mobile and physical.

Scandella was a tire fire in Montreal, he was worse than Wideman IMO. Montreal says no way.

Montreal probably can't take any contracts over the bury threshold with term, unless it involves losing another player with term.
Lehkonen is probably already priced out next year and Romanov will likely have to be bridged.

maybe i haven't look at enough of his few games in mtl but, from what i remember, he started really well then had a little dip in form for the last few games in his 20 games under mtl's shirt. and i really feel like mtl wanted to resign him.

lehkonen still have a good value he can be traded later. no?

He's been fine for what he is, we just need someone who is capable of playing top pairing minutes next to Parayko and he's not that guy long term. Kulak isn't that guy either but at least he makes half as much, we can play him on the third pair and open up some cap space.

Montreal has roughly $2M to sign Romanov as is next year. That's with Weber on LTIR and filling the holes with prospects. We already can't afford to re-sign Lehkonen (so a trade is possible at the end of the season, he's still RFA). Taking Scandella means we can't afford Romanov either.

Of course moves could be made to free up space for next year, but any non-expiring contract added this year, will further complicate matters. Scandella isn't worth the gymnastics he would require.
