The original trade was Rackell retained
I think teams beat a 2nd for Rackell retained
Ya, I agree with that. Rackell rental should bring back atleast a late 1st.
What people don’t understand, most teams don’t even trade 2-3 prospects in a trade(except for all-star caliber players or another young player with a good contract with term too). And Especially not a prospect package with 2-3 prospects plus draft picks.
You, or even everyone on this site might think Borkqvist and Gruden arnt much of a return. Or any other 2 mid-level, (B- to C- prospects). But the organization that drafted them does. Even if he’s a 5th-6th -7th round pick. They are invested in them.
And the team that is receiving them is invested in other players, in their organization, that would block the prospects traded into the organization. They don’t have a lot of PT in the NHL or AHL to bring in multiple prospects from 1 trade. They would rather give the PT to players they drafted and are invested in.
Very rarely in the NHL do you see trades that involve prospect packages or 2-3 prospects. And then even rarer with a prospect package plus picks.
Probably 90% of trades are just 1 prospect or 1 draft pick or 1 prospect and 1 draft pick together. Or one prospect and 2 picks. U rarely see the trade with multiple prospects, even mid-level prospects.
