Mete played bad both games vs the leafs I’m just not sure he’s an nhl d man
He is but here is the problem :
#1 Thomas Chabot
#2 Nobody
#3 Artem Zub
#4 Nobody
#5 Nikita Zaitsev, Nick Holden
#6 Victor Mete, Michael Del Zotto
#7 Josh Brown
It's pretty hard to run a NHL defense with only 2 top-4 D-men, one who doesn't even have 1 full season under his belt too
All of Zaitsev, Mete, MDZ, etc are going to be exposed because you're literally missing a 2nd pairing
They are doing what they have been doing for years : playing D-men OUT OF their comfort zone. The most glaring example was Cody Ceci, a 2-way #4-5 D-man played as a top NHL shutdown D-man (he was top-10 in EV+PK TOI/GP under Boucher)
The Penguins used him the right way last season and Ceci had his best season since 2015-16
