For $1.5m x 5 retention. Arizona likely won't be near the cap ceiling until after 2025/26 anyways so capspace isn't an issue for them; it's just a case of them paying for a high draft pick which is something they've shown a willingness to do this past offseason.

Still going to find a way to sign MacKinnon and quality goaltending?

Erik Johnson's $6m caphit comes off the books in 2023 and will cover most if not all of Mackinnon's raise. Kadri would also leave in UFA in 2022 to save another $3.5m over a prospect (with Jost taking over 3C again).

Avs would obviously need some prospects and some cheap UFA signings to round out the lineup, but the D would still be among the best in the league and Mackinnon/Eichel as 1C/2C would likely more than compensate for cheaper depth in the bottom 6.

Byram's contract in 2023 might be tricky, but I'd wager that they'd simply bridge him to keep the AAV down until the end of Eichel's contract. If Barron and/or Helleson have made the step up maybe it would also be feasible to trade Toews in 2023 (when he has 1 year to UFA) for some cap relief.

its really just 1 or 2 avs fans who are going overboard with this, and just bc Friedman says he believed Colorado was 1 of the teams who called on Eichel, now they are going nuts with crazy trade proposals that would never be done under the Sakic era with how he manages his roster and his view on asset management

laugh laugh On what planet is Arizona retaining for 5 x $1,500,000 for a single 2023 1st round pick? No team is retaining for 5 years for a single late 1st rounder.

"Going overboard".... "going nuts".... "crazy trade proposals".... etc etc

It's almost like this website is made for fans to be able to test out roster ideas and have friendly inconsequential discussions..... and yet here you are in every Avs thread castigating people for simply having some fun.

What do you think $7.5m would be worth in terms of picks/prospects? Carolina retained Marleau's $6m for a mid-1st, so it doesn't seem unreasonable that a late 1st and maybe a B prospect would get reasonably close.

Marleau was 1 year, Eichel is 5 years You're at least looking at a equivalent of a 1st and 2nd and 3rd round pick at minimal for anyone to retain on Eichel and that's even with 20% retained or $2,000,000 per over 5 seasons.

In real dollars the dollar difference isn't that different between Carolina retaining $6m and a team retaining $7.5m on Eichel. A team like Arizona won't even need that capspace for the next 4-5 years so the capspace is irrelevant to them, it would purely be a cash-for-picks deal.

Doesn't matter no team is helping out either Buffalo or Colorado. Even with cap space being irrelevant for Arizona. Why would they want to retain $1,500,000 x 5 for Jack Eichel for basically nothing? They can use 3 of their salary retention's on their own UFAs and get back more then what they would get retaining on Jack Eichel. FYI no team is going to have roughly $7,500,000 in dead money on their books for 5 years for a late 1st round pick not even close.

5 years of retention gets more than a late, late 1st.

not true, but you do you
And where was the lie to the comment, he asked and at that time there an abundance of eichel rosters from one person...you. So yes overboard making a 4 rosters in a few hours in succession of one another that they are all on the first page is true statement

Having discord on avs rosters is within my right as person who hs signed up to this website and follows the forum rules, if you dont like comments on when you post the 3rd of 4th version of the same trade still doesn't mke a lot of sense, feel free to ignore me,

You post with a lot of passion in your rosters but this is no different from the compher trades all last year, you were obsessed trying to get a 3c on this site, now its moved onto Hertl and Eichel 2Cs. You do have a tendency to get 1 idea in your head and run it into the ground

So making multiple AGM's is a crime? You comment on every single Avs AGM here without making a single one, and hardly ever provide constructive feedback, just negative snarky comments. Please don't comment on my AGM's going forward, thanks.

never said it was a crime, you are in your right to have fun and post anyway you want and about anything you like.
Just ignore me then if it upsets you so much that I made a comment to someone else, which in no way was negative, just commentary that point and time of the rostesrs posted

Your comments may have been addressed to others but you've made several references implying that I'm nuts, crazy, overboard, obsessed, etc. I don't appreciate it and would again like to ask you to stop commenting on the AGM's I post. If you want to discuss something with other posters you can do that elsewhere. Thank you.
