Alex Newhook's reassignment presumably was partially motivated by the salary cap. Without his salary ($908,333), the Avs have $2.306 million of space. That's just enough to call up Matteau ($750K), Megna ($750K) and Sikura ($800K), who make a combined $2.3 million.

Jared Bednar confirms that Alex Newhook's reassignment was in part because of cap constraints but also because "he hasn't been good enough." Bednar and Joe Sakic both met with Newhook. They hope he can gain some confidence in the AHL and want to see him win more battles. #Avs

Great anticipation from Thomas Bordeleau (SJS) to put this in space and an even better finish from Brisson (VGK). This has been an awfully fun hockey game. Wolverines flipped switch after looking out of it in first. https://t.co/IrIsLPLd8d
